My bad.

Yes, 2008 commit. No other offers. Was looking at Arkansas for track (javelin, I believe).

He was the QB for Dee Bell's team, as I recall.

we might as well take commits from guys who don't have any other offers b/c not many who do want to play for Coach Scarsmar.

The only reason this guy isn't in the Rivals database is because he comes from a small school in an unknown conference in a rural area.

We, too, will be thrilled with Mangino-like success after Scary Allen is finished doing his thing.

good to see this kid is being written off from the opening.

A poster on the other site was saying a few weeks ago he hoped KSU would offer this kid.  Said he was a stud athlete but had to play QB last year...out of position.

We'll see..but a few on here have it figured out.  The kid is worthless as a player before he's started his career.

Jeremy Crabtree evaluated him and said he is a solid 3-star. Then the other rivals staff evaluated him and said he is a no-star and that Crabtree sucks. Then all hell broke loose amongst the 'tards.

Oh wait. That was a different guy who wasn't in the database when Prince offered him.

Jesus, settle down.

I just read through all the posts again, and I can't find a single one that called the kid worthless (or anything near that).  This is the internet Hatter, not a fuccking job interview.

Tim Biere was a one offer(KSU) nobody three weeks ago.  Now a few weeks later he's just shy of 4 stars and apparently has turned into a "somebody"...well, he did commit to Kansas.

Get that rivals stamp of approval and everything will be gavy...lol.

Where did he have an electronic timed 40?  If he didn't all 40 times need to be ignored.

There will be over 1 year before this Cat steps on the field for a relevant snap in college.  I'll judge him then.

I don't disagree that Rivals "misses it," frequently.

The problem I have with Rivals, OR the problem I have with some of Prince's recruits (can't tell which yet) is that somehow, while compiling the list of top palyers for 2008 for Kansas they forgot to even put these guys in the database.  Which implies that they were never even considered for the top 10 list, if even 20.  Is Kansas really THAT deep in talent?

Pete,

the kid played QB last year out of necessity.  He's not a QB.  A poster on gpc a few weeks ago was saying he really hoped KSU would off the kid as a TE.  Said he was a big, athletic kid who could run.  Rivals does not find kids out of the blue if they are out of position sometimes.

FYI, Tannahill was 6A state javelin champ...top 25 in the nation this spring in that event.  Not that it has anything to do w/ TE but it's an accomplishment in athletics.

Tannahill actually finished ranked 17th in the nation in the javelin.  Not bad.

I know you said it doesn't matter, but it looks like your grasping for straws here...this coming from a guy that thinks offer lists and stars mean as much as the dump I took before posting this.

just got an email -- Crabby seems to like the kid's athleticism a lot. Thus, you can expect him to be a low 2-star.

Regarding kansas state rankings by rivals, didn't they completely miss the boat on Viers and/or Houlik?

I also saw that he beat NU commit Blake Lawerence like a drum in the Sunflower League Championship meet

Tannahill - 190-9
Lawrence - 176-6

And Lawrence was a senior.

I'm grasping at straws because I listed an athletic accomplishment by the kid?  Mmmkay.

I'm not writing the kid off and probably never will, but I don't see how the javelin equates to football. 6-3, 240, 4.7? May be he should be listed as an athlete because he could just as well play DE/LB with those measurables. If the kid has a head on his shoulders and the right attitude, who knows what he can achieve.

It is seriously funny how much you all get worked up around here about stars. But, what do I know I'm just a cub. I won't disagree that the recruiting rankings are a good measuring stick, but they aren't a be all, tell all of how well a team performs down the road.

If he was going for QB we might care how far he can throw an aerodynamic thingy, but he's a TE.  The 2 * thing bothers me.  Where are our
4*'s?

In the end, all we really care about is if he's a good football player or not, and we won't know that for a long time. But, in the meantime, it's fun to bitch and moan and piss on endlessly about the recruiting rankings, rivals ineptitude, and Coach Scarsmar's recruiting "tactics."

I went to High School with this guy and Dee Bell. I believe Olathe East won state in track and field this season thanks to both of them. Dee Bell is fast and Travis can freaking chuck that javelin (won state soph year also).

I think he even dated my sister once

Oh yeah he had to play QB last year because he was the only decent thrower on the team. After the '05 season Derek Miller graduated and now plays QB and safety for Misery State....so I'm looking forward to his ass being kicked next season.
