Whichever conference gave Tim Weiser the best excuse to expense hunting and fishing trips whenever KSU went to play there . . . provided that he wasn't already on a hunting or fishing trip and didn't bother to attend the KSU road game.

Think people would believe that we were a service academy if we changed our name? I don't think the Coast Guard has a service academy.

    It's time to hit it.
We could totally go Independent.  The big 12 needs us more than we need them.

Our OOC schedule would be greatly improved if we went independent.  We'd be just like Notre Dame :blahblah:

A&M would probably be a better fit as a service academy

I've vote for C-USA or the WAC (freaking road trips to Hawaii).  But we'd probably end up in the Mountain West.

    DOD Take Two

Back to the Big Eight. But in a different format....

The six schools in the Big 12 North
Wichita State, barring they promise to get a football program
Colorado State

Wow...never mind, that would suck.

Yeah, i wouldn't hold my breath on WSU getting a football team anytime soon.  Plus, they have too be a division 1-AA for a few years first, or something like that.  I remember Florida Atlantic starting up a team, and even though the actually had pretty decent and sudden success, it was still like a ten year ordeal.

No, MU would try to go Big 10 but likely not make it, NU would go Big 10 (12), CU would go Pac 10.  That would leave KSU, ku, MU and ISU scrambling....that would kind of suck.  Of course, if the Big 12 dissolved, OSU, Tech and Baylor would likely still be available.  So, that would give us 7, add in tcu and Colorado State for 9...I would guess there would be a couple of available schools from whereever Texas and A&M fled to so we could likely add another.  We would be the NoDem (non demographic) Conference.

All in all, a split of the Big 12 would be a bad deal for college sports

What is driving all this talk? I know Weiberg just resigned, but what source is driving all this split-up talk? I've seen a lot of it on several boards, but when I searched news stories for it on google there wasn't anything.

The Big 12 needs to exist. There needs to be a good conference where it is sitting.

I'm not sure it's possible for a Texan to realize how arrogant Texans are.

No joke, I know some Texans who believe that Texas to this day could secede and make it as an independent nation if they don't like the direction of the US government.

Texas is stupid because 'some' Texas fans or whoever think Texas could make it as an independent?  :loly: :loly:
now im pondering what the age is of the poster of that?

I think Texas COULD make it as an independent, but I dont think they likely WOULD. Its modern economics as it relates to each institution. Notre Dame has shown how hard it is even with their lucrative NBC and BCS contracts [which will soon expire]. Texas is obviously substantially higher profile than Notre Dame in the last number of seasons [excepted their end blowout loss in BCS Fiesta against, who tOSU?]

No way dude, the Vince Young era will soon wear off, and you'll be back to the "underachievers" you were labeled as from 98-03.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

im sorry, but i don't likely see notre dame staying independent much longer thus proving a prestigious (sp?) program, same prestige as say texas,  can't do it in todays economics (though as long as ND keeps getting undeserving bcs bowl bids they will survive) and the other reason most texas fans are stupid is that they think the big 12 needs them more than they need the big 12

Hey Tex, howdy y'all.  Who finished in first place at the rodeo?  Can you recommend a good boot store?  Do you think the border patrol has enough manpower?  What happened to the Mavs?  Is Texas considering a move from the US to Mexico?  Would they ever?

really? as much as I love Vince Young, what percentage is he responsible for the 9 consecutive minimum 9 win seasons and  6 consecutive minimum 10 win season anomalies?  :beerchug:
