Way to make an impression

Five weeks ago, Purify was involved in an incident at a Lincoln bar that led to charges of assault, failure to comply, resisting arrest and trespassing. Purify was believed to be headed for a pre-trial diversion program for that legal matter, and wasn't required to be in Lancaster County Court on Thursday for his scheduled arraignment.

What an unbelievable F'ing moron.  He is LP the New Class.  Let's see if Big Game Billy handles this one the same way the Warden handled LP...you know, by just ignoring it.

Texas Defensive End Busted for DWI

Posted Jun 3rd 2007 8:00AM by Jeff Adams
Filed under: Texas Football, Big 12, NCAA FB Police Blotter
Texas defensive end Henry Melton was pulled over and cited for driving while intoxicated early Friday morning. Melton was pulled over by police after his vehicle was spotted driving in an unsafe manner in the Sixth Street area of Austin.

The Dallas Morning News notes that Melton failed a field sobriety test, was said to be staggering and reportedly smelled of alcohol. Texas coach Mack Brown was out of town, but did address the situation briefly.

"We're disappointed anytime one of our players is accused of wrongdoing," Brown said. "We have a great group of guys and we will thoroughly investigate this situation. Following the completion of the legal process, we will do what's best for the university, Henry and the team. One thing we have really prided ourselves on in our program is our family atmosphere, and this will be handled within our family."

Melton spent his first two years at Texas as an oversized running back before moving to defensive end this spring. At nearly 270 pounds he was used mostly in short-yardage situations, but did rush for yards and 10 touchdowns in 2005. With the loss of both DE starters from a year ago Melton was expected to contribute defensively for the Longhorns in 2007.

USC safety Pinkard was arrested May 18th for suspicion of DUI

What did Coach Bill this afternoon?
Well, the decision has been made. He has been removed from the team until further notice.

Take some notes...

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Well, after getting in a drunken bar fight he was given a second chance because he had a clean record, but now it is apparent his problems are worse than that. I'm not embarrassed by this because there are problem drinkers on every campus in the United States, and Purify alone is responsible for Purify. However, I am pissed at him for being so unbelievably foolish. Callahan has suspended him indefinitely and that if fair.

Purify made his own problems here. He has no one to be mad at but himself.

I am intrigued by the possibilities of what Waks posted.  Also, I am very interested to see what Big Game Billy says to get Purify on the field for USC.  This will take a level of spin the college football world has not seen since Osborne and LP.  Stay tuned.

I really think Tom Osborne thought he was like a social worker for some of the guys we had. He was far too idealistic, and though some of them like Johnny Rodgers benefited from this approach, others like Lawrence Phillips blew up in his face. As a result we have this reputation, but it really isn't true for Callahan at all. He's kicked some great players off the team, and I think Purify is going to be gone far too long to make a difference in 2007. Frankly, I think he's gone for good. Maybe this will work out for the best. As it is, Purify was pulled over uneventfully, and now he will probably get some help. I'm glad he didn't get into a wreck and hurt someone.

Our fans don't seem to really want Purify back now. They were forgiving after the first event, but the fact that he got into trouble five weeks later isn't sitting well with people.

I wish him the best, but right now I am just hoping one of our other receivers steps up.
