It can take months for a pulled back muscle to completely go away, especially if they are inflamed and keep re-aggravating themselves.  I suggest you routinely take 600 mg (3 - 200 mg tablets) of ibuprophin three times a day.  At least that was the precription my doctor told me to take - and it worked!  FYI: Ibuprophin reduces muscle inflammation much better than Tylenol or aspirin can...

What was the cause?  Lifting?  Overswing a golf club?  Knowing the mechanism of injury is key before taking/giving medical advice over the 'net. Is it in the upper (thoracic) spine?  Or in the lumbar area?  Are you having any numbness down either leg?

I'm glad you have found some relief with the Ibuprofen.  There are other anti-inflammatory drugs that may be of benefit when used in conjunction with the Ibuprofen that will aid your recovery.

One thing you want to do even in the early stages of recovery is stretch, stretch, stretch.

Keep some grub in your tummy.  Taking Ibuprofen in those doses can sometimes give your stomach some trouble.

Take care,

Will

yeah you really shouldn't have told us that, instead u shouldve told us some crazy story that made u look like a badass. but i kinda know what you are talking about cuz i have injured myself in the most bizarre ways and it pisses me off cuz i expect the injury to go away quickly because of the ridiculous way i got hurt.  for instance, on fourth of july i lit a m80 and backed up into a thorn tree and it stabbed my wrist, got infected, and swelled to the size of an orange.  the next day i couldnt play in my baseball game...i was pretty embarassed.
