Larry Brown left because he knocked up a ku coed and ku was about to go on probation.   

And Roy left because he realized there wasn't going to be a title in Lawrence anytime soon.  And ku was about to go on probation...again.

I've never thought of it that way, but Roy's time at ku was bookeneded by Lack of Institutional Control and NCAA Probabtion when he came in, and Lack of Institutional Control and NCAA Probabtion when he went out.
