I have had ACL surgery on both knees, one was a tear and one was a rupture. My surgeon advised me to just have the tear "cleaned up" as I was 25 and any competitive playing was defintely behind me. I am curious if this is the route Rush is going if he does have a tear and not a complete rupture.
If they just clean it up, he will be on the court faster and his explosiveness will return sooner, but will the NBA be leary of
the weaker ligament? Also, the possibility of a reinjuring is higher. On the other hand, if he has a replacement and sits out 07-08, plays for ku in 08-09 he will be 24 by the time training camp starts in 09 for the NBA and that could be a negative for his draft position.
In hindsight, he should have left last year when he still had some "upside" in the minds of NBA scouts.
