    Hey, basketball!!!
KSU 6'5" TE commit Cooper Bassett or top 3 Player in Kansas with a heavy lean to ku, Tanner Hawkinson. Which is going to be a better D-1 TE????

BTW. Rivals has Hawkinson ahead of Harper in top Kansas HS players. What a joke!!!

Discuss.

It is a shame that they'll probably put Hawkinson higher than Harper.  Harper is a big time athlete.

Cooper Bassett is getting some damn good offers, ku offered him and they already have Hawkinson all but locked up.  Apparently LSU will offer him too.

Bassett is easily better than Hawkinson. Crabby even thinks so. Hawkinson is probally the fourth best athlete in Kansas behind Arthur, Harper, and Reed. Harper has offers from top programs like Cal, Notre Dame, and Michigan and Reed has several offers including Nebraska, K-State, Missouri, and Colorado. All Hawkinson has are offers from Colorado State, Kansas, Georgia Tech (I can't figure out why), and Oklahoma State. Rivals will just put Hawkinson as second so it looks like they aren't showing a biased towards Kansas State.

Yes.  It's all a conspiracy.

Not necessarily that. It is just blatantly obvious who the more talented athletes are (those athletes being Arthur, Harper, and Reed). You're an idiot if you cannot realize that Reed and Harper are both more talented than Hawkinson. In addition to that, they play better competition. Hawkinson plays in 4A while Harper and Reed both play 5A ball.

Wait, McPherson dropped to 4A?  I know their FB program sucked for-f'n-ever, but I could have sworn they were runners-up in the 5A BB tourney this year.

You're right, I was thinking Marysville. Regardless, Harper plays 6A and Reed plays at St. Thomas Aquinas. While the other kid plays in McPherson. Who would you pick?

Then you are calling the folks at Rivals idiots.  More talented athlete does not necessarily equal a better football player.  I have little doubt that Harper may be a better "athlete", but there are more than a few folks who Hawkinson as a better player.  Marvin Simmons was a talented athlete, but Nick Reid was a better football player.  Byron Gassaway was a talented athlete, but Darnell McDonald was a better football player.  There are numerous other examples.  But there is a reason folks have Hawkinson rated higher, and I honestly don't think it's a conspiracy or stupidity as you insinuate.

I'm going off of scholarship offers. Reed and Harper have much more impressive offers. Obviously D1 coaches (the ones that would know best) think that Harper and Reed are better than Hawkinson. They also seem to think Bassett is better than Hawkinson. So in this case, yes, Rivals is probably wrong. But you can stick to your beloved stars system and recruiting rankings.

Not sure who is better between Hawkinson and Bassett I think both are good players should be high 3 star type of kids.  Harper should be rated higher then Hawkinson though and that isn't a knock on Hawkinson but Harper is a 4 star type talent.  He's just a rare athlete and he's getting recruited nationally by some of the very best programs.

I don't follow ku recruiting so I haven't heard much about Hawkinson, butI thought Bassett was a lock for a 4 star.

If OU and LSU offer, he probably should be.
