Allard Baird is the Jim Wooldridge of major league baseball.  I've been telling my friends this for the last couple of weeks, and somebody said it on 810 today.  Look at the facts:

*  Seems to be a nice guy.
*  Media-friendly.
*  Kept his job because everyone in town loves football.
*  No matter what he does, his teams wind up sucking.
*  Lots of "bad luck" w/ player injuries, development, head cases, all of which combine to produce suckiness.
*  None of the above seem to be his "fault," but they happen all the time and an inordinate amount.
*  Can't recruit/draft top prospects (Baird b/c of signing issues, Wooly b/c of lack of connections), so you get a lot of "projects."
*  Keep promising that there's a "plan" and better things are in the future, but never see any results.

Allard Baird needs to be fired.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
Baird is a lot worse than Wooly.

That's saying a lot.

Please don't put Wooly in that class.  Baird is the worst GM in baseball ever.  The Royals last 5 years is one of the worst in baseball history, and if I were a betting man,  I would bet the house that this years team will have the worst record of all-time.  MLB will have to implement the 10 run mercy rule if our pitching doesn't improve.   :yuck:

Baird is awful.  But his ownership is lowsy.  Isaah Thomas is the single worst sports front office man of all time.  He completely ruined an entire basketball league and then set out to ruin the richest basketball team in the sport.

Royals ownership: UP
Isaah Thomas: DOWN AND OUT

he forced out Larry Brown to make himself coach?  &@#%.  He's done in less than one year.  He got the Wooly talk, marked improvement or get the &@#% out.

Mangino=Wooly.  Sound analysis.  Has anyone seen their OOC for next year?

"Listen, we're 4-0.  A lot of teams in the country would like to be 4-0 right now."
"Coach, only three of those wins count towards bowl eligibility because you played two I-AA teams."
"So you're saying they don't count?  Tell that to the soldiers in Iraq!  Tell them it doesn't count!"
"Ummmmmm.......Ok."

Isaiah Thomas also took a decent Pacers team straight down before leaving to NY.

Correct.

He also single-handedly dismantled the USBL.

Isaiah Thomas:  I can't run the front office worth a crap, so why don't I coach the team, too?
