Now I don't know really how much coaching you can do in a spring game type situation, but Ron Prince won't be doing any in the first half. He's going to be in the booth as a radio color commentator during the first half of their spring game.

Not too sure if I like that idea.  I can understand letting his assistants handle the coaching for a while and him going up to the booth to chat on air, but not for a whole half.  Then again, he might have something good in mind and this is why I'm not coaching the Cats.  Well...this and a lot of other reasons.

hey why not?  i mean i think its pretty clear this isn't going to be used as any real practice or big time teaching situation.  with all the hoopla surrounding it, this spring game is more about entertainment than a learning tool.  i for one will be interested to hear what prince says while i'm watching the game.  whats so bad about accomodating the fans who pay for all of this?

Ugh.

First is, the game has no meaning to anyone.  It's just a practice game and a chance for players to get some playing time in at full speed.

Secondly, the team is still trying to get it's identity.  Having Prince coach on the sideline isn't going to change anything since he's delegated the offense and defense to their respective coordinators.   Prince just defines the system and let the coordinators do their job, something different than Snyder.

I'm not ready to pass judgement on the team yet until we get through a few games.

Wow. Weren't you one of the tards that ridiculed me for saying that very same thing?

"Its the spring game!!! how could you possibly call it a meaningless practice!!!" -Rodless and friends

I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

No, we were ridiculing you because you said when asked "Did you go to the spring game" and you said you did and even commented about it a week before it ACTUALLY happened.

You tried to spin it down after you were caught lying.

Nice try.

I challenge you to find where I said I had gone to the 'spring game'.

I was commenting on our qb's in practice.

Go reread it.

This isn't hard.

He asked you did you GO (past tense) to the Spring Game.  You said No, but that you heard that.. etc..etc..

There was not a "Spring game is next week, " or "It wasn't the spring game."

People can decide for themselves but clearly, I think any person who has any common sense knows you got caught in a lie.

JMITCH doesn't care what happened in our Spring game. In case you haven't noticed(and you likely haven't), JMITCH has a hard on for Reesing. The only reason he was asking was to hear about Reesing.

So I told him how Reesing was doing compared to Meier and Barmann as they through against defenses in a small scrimmage.

Imbecile.

So what you're saying is, that you did lie, but only because of JMITCH?

Doesn't "lying" take conscious thought with the intent to deceive? In Goldy's defence I think this is a case of him just being a dumb ass......yet again.

True.. he may have been seriously confused with football terms such as.. "football" and "spring game"

Rusty, you should go check with the elders at GP before asking such a horrendous question.  Why in the hell would we want our Head Coach (who has never been a head coach) to be on the SIDELINES during the "Spring Game"?

If it was going to be broadcast on a wider area than 3A High Schools typically get, I might understand...

That being said, they've got the tri-county area covered with this radio broadcast (what was that about this being a great radio deal?), so he will be sure to dazzle everyone from Westmorland to St. Mary's to Council Grove to Chapman BABY!!!!!!!!

It will be fun when I finally see him actually coach a game on 9/16 or 9/23.

I like how you can complain about the lack of coverage and the irrelevance of the spring game at the same time.

Impressive!

Actually, I'm planning to be there at this point....not like I can listen on the radio, or watch it on ESPN (that one made me LOL!@)

I guess he's only doing this for the first half...right?

I am sure all the stations on the KSU network wanted to broadcast this game, but then decided that collectively putting what few people would likely be listening on a Saturday night to sleep wasn't a good business plan.

    The very best.
It's the spring game. It should't be broadcasted anywhere.

I like the idea.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

most schools dont even have a radio broadcast of their spring game (like ku).  i guess with all the negativity around the football program we can only be pleasantly surprised by any success.
