Do you guys think the North is on its way back?

-If Prince is good enough to knock off two good south teams in his first year then I think KSU will become strong again. He almost broke into the rankings after the Texas win. :ksu:

-Nebraska is recruiting really well right now, but we are still looking for that "breakthrough" win. Overall though, I think things are going to work out under Callahan.

-Hawkins really struggled last year, but based on his last coaching stint I still think Colorado will be good again in two or three years.

-Missouri is pretty good now, but they need to win on the road more.  :onthecan:

-Kansas...I don't know what to think here.

-I don't think Iowa State is going anywhere.

What do you guys think?

the bottom of the North is better than it was when the North was the dominant division of the conference but the top is not nearly as good right now.

Nebraska is getting better and bringing in more athletes but Nebraska was awfully good '96-'00.

And KSU was extremely good as well '96-'00 when the North was the dominant division.  CU had a few good teams as did Mizzou.

Is it coming back?  I wouldn't say that when the South is so strong but I think it's improving.  The cellar in the North is definitely better than '96-'00.

I don't think much of Mizzou.  Pinkel has been there 6 years and despite a weaker North has yet to do anything better than 4-4 in conference play.

I think if the North is to "come back" it will take CU and KSU to get much better.  And we have no idea whether that will occur or not.  I'm not sold on Callahan either.

Nebraska is not trying to get back  to the 93-97 days.  We understand that winning like that, in todays day and age is nearly impossible.  Not ot mention, those years were the exception, not the rule.  Some NU fans probaly think otherwise and that is why they are doomed to be unhappy.  Will nebraska be in the hunt for every big 12 title?  yes  and that puts us in the hunt for the NC.  that is all we need.  I'd like to say mizzou is going to do something but pinky has been there 6 years and is just 2 games above even.  And then there is CU, who knows hawkins ha a decent rep.  The rest of the 3 will fight it out for big time bottom feeders unless ISU can all of a sudden recruit and ksu lets prince go.  just off what I have seen so far, NU is gonna run away with the show

We just got metal bleachers.  And we're really, really happy about it!  In other words, no.

    Fear the Brick
No.

ISU - sucks, in transition
CU - sucks, in transition -we'll see what Dan "it's division 1 football" Hawkins can do this year
MU - good/decent team, but defense hasn't been good enough
ku - sucks, year 6 of going nowhere
KSU - subpar, still don't know what last year was
NU - good/decent - Keller is god

...there are no elite teams and only 2 good/decent teams.  When the North was good, there were atleast 2 elite/good teams, sometimes 3.

no, the north is not really on its way back.  It will be better and continue to get better but, KSU and NU are the only two teams that control their destiny in the North and they are the only two teams in the North that the south worry about.

I think Missouri could do it if they get a defensive coordinator.

I don't think so.  I think that Pinkel is gone from Mizzou soon.

The pinnacle of his seven or so years is four and four.  That's only one win better than Mangino the hut.  His (very modest) success is largely due to the decline of the three major north programs, as is ku's and ISU's.

That's true. It sucks the Nebraska, KSU, and Colorado all bit it within a few short years.

Oh Gary Pinkel...last year when Mizzou was 6-0 or whatever I stated at work (around the water cooler of course) that Misery would lose 4 of their remaining games, they all thought I was crazy.  Never underestimate the power of Gary Pinkel.
