Yes. Nothing too exciting, just focusing more on the coaches in attendance.

Better than anything else out there.

That picture on the front page of the sports page gave me the willies.  (no pun intended)  Seeing those coaches together anywhere is amazing, let alone on the campus of Wichita East.  (Maybe you haven't been in town long enough, but East was an also-ran in the city league for years, the kind of school where kids like the Browns would have found a way to transfer to another school in years past.)  That said, I have to wonder how A. Brown will react to seeing the neighborhoods surrounding the campus of USC.  Makes me worry more about UF than USC.  Do you think Martin would be down for giving a spot to Harper?  I guess he wouldn't use up a schollie, so it wouldn't really be that much of a gamble, and that might be a huge benefit in our recruiting of him.

If anything, I think Prince would give Harper a scholly and then he'd, in essence, walk on the basketball team. But that's a little down the road, no?

Yeah, Rashaad Washington basically did the same thing.  Main difference I guess would be the Rashaad did it knowing he would never play many minutes, more just to give the team (at that point a very bad team) another body during practice.   With Harper's nationwide interest really picking up I do think it would be in his best interest to weigh all options, so I imagine he is no hurry to make any decisions.  But we can dream can't we?

Wouldn't a basketball walk-on with a football scholarship still count against the scholarship numbers for the basketball team?

If we don't get either of the Brown brothers, nor Harper, we've got way more problems than I want to admit. That means we have a big perception problem that needs to be changed statewide.

Not necessarily. If the kids go to USC, UF, or OU then there is nothing we can do about it. But if they go to Missouri, Colorado, or ku then yes we have big problems. Just because a kid picks a perennial power over K-State doesn't mean we have perception problems, it just means that we gave it all we had but it was just impossible to get him to turn his eyes from the national championship rings and what not.

I have a new theory.

Let me preface this by saying I'm a James Franklin fan. I think he's a fantastic man. Good people, deserves good things to happen to him.

But...

Here's what I fear. I fear that Franklin nearly lost his job in the off-season, or that he would have left if he'd found a willing taker. I fear that the incentive for Prince to keep him around - remember, Prince has attributed the revolving door of assistants as "normal," so why would Franklin be any different? - was his relationship with the Browns and, to a lesser degree, Harper. I fear that if K-State fails to land any of these kids, and he's the point man, he might not have a job for much longer.

Someone has to be the fall guy, right?

Just a theory. No inside knowledge, just an observation.

J-Mart, like the theory, but...if KSU doesn't win (or rather, if the offensive production sucks and so does Freeman) then: (a) Franklin deserve criticism/fault for that (b) Harper and the Browns won't  be going to KSU because if we can't produce offensively we are losing which Franklin would in part be responsible for (c) Ron can't keep firing/runnning off assistants and expect to maintain his PR and/or any semblance of continuity/cohesiveness.

Any chance that you have a theory on where A. Brown and C. Harper will end up?  ;)

I don't think we're disagreeing one bit here. My point is, there are some things that are in K-State's control - like winning as many games as possible and re-energizing its fan base - and there are things that are not - like the minds of a bunch of fickle and impressionable teenage boys.

K-State should focus on what it can control.

Finding a position for Harper is going to be the chore. I watched him catch passes yesterday and it wasn't pretty. He said he was rusty because he hadn't done it for years, but he's raw. A physical specimen, no doubt, but raw.

He still likes K-State. There's something to be said for that.

As for A. Brown, I haven't a clue. Dude doesn't provide the slightest clue when talking about this stuff, probably because he truly doesn't know what he's going to do.

Do you not get the idea that Prince will let him try at quarterback? Because that is always what I though he would do since Chris wants a shot. But yeah, that is concerning that he doesn't have very soft hands. WR is the position that I always thought he would play in college..

Seen the kid play quarterback, not quite the level that I would like to see.  He's getting big time attention as an athlete, I expect him to wind up playing safety.  I think once he realizes that his best opportunity to play professionaly is on defense, he'll warm up to the idea.

6'2 225, 4.45 40.....in a 3-4 defense....that's a weakside OLB, isn't it?

He's about prototypical SS size for the NFL.  Think Roy Williams.  And that vertical will be very useful.  He certainly might bulk up a bit more though, so WLB is defiantely a possibilty.

With his size and athleticism I don't think it will be a problem finding a position for him to play.  WR, LB, S, QB sometimes, here at Play-maker U, we will find a spot for him.
Show me defense.
