    Hey, basketball!!!
a little bit ago. Man, we used to be the sh*t.....well anyways that's beside the point, and I was just thinking and thought since the Big 12 Championship vs. OU in 2003, we are 16-20.

I know alot of things factored into the complete collapse from 2003 season, but the main reason has to be the lack of recruiting & actually getting the recruits on campus because of grades, off-field issues, etc...

    The very best.
At first for my youtube video, I simply wanted to create a video called "decade of dominance" that starts in 1993 and ends in 2003.

Then I saw I can keep it current and our stats still look decent (that win over texas was big time, lol@people who would have rather have beaten ku)

From 1997-2003 KSU was 72-19, the most wins of any BCS conference team. A run of 7 years.

Since, 16-20. What happened?
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

It seems that Bush's reelection co-exists with the decline of K-State football.

The only reason I would have rathered of beaten ku is because it would have been a better indication of where the program was at and would have probably been "better" for the fan base in term of realistic expectations.  The ku, Rutgers, and even spring game have shown that the Texas win was just a magical fluke.  But that type of logic isn't factored by recruits; they are, for the most part, very gullible, young people.  So I guess the UT was "better".

Bill was too loyal, the players that usually panned out, didn't, our offense was not lead by a reliable, good QB, and our DC was terrible.

Fans are idiots.  Recruits are all that matter.  Recruits don't care about ku.  They care about beating Texas.

Yes, and from a recruiting stand point, it was a great win.  I just get tired of KSU fans pointing to that win as some example of future/present greatness as that win was a magical, opportunistic night when we essentially hit the jack pot on every pull of the lever.   I understand perception is what recruiting is all about.  Mangino has been living off beating KSU and MU, and neither program was that good when he beat them.

I believe it is more important than you think when a team trying to return to the top 25 can beat highly ranked teams with a new head coach.  It shows that the coach can win big games with far less talent and more importantly helps recruiting.  Once you get the better players in because of those wins and the coach gets more experience, beating teams like ku becomes much easier.  A coach who wins against all the patsies but can't beat legitimate competition(Callahan) means he doesn't know how to prepare his team for big games.  Showing the capability to coach teams over a hump is huge IMO because I think it shows you that he has a higher coaching ceiling than most.  It was no fluke.  He prepared the team and made them believe they were going to win before the game started and that's why they won.  That's coaching.  Consistency will come after a coach gets his players and more experience.  Beating Texas was way more important than beating ku.  I think that has already been proven with how it helped recruiting.

Yeah, did Wooly beat a Texas team that was riding a 20 game big 12 winning streak? A texas team that hadn't lost to any north team since 1999(ksu)? A texas team that hadn't lost a conference road game since 2002? The defending national champions?

Dumbass.

Wow, ease up and go play some tennis.  I'm not saying it wasn't a big win.  It was a big win, but just one win.  When you follow up that big win with two embarassing losses, it's kind of hard to get too excited.  Oregon State beat USC, with pretty much the same track record...go Beavers, national champs in '07.

That was actually a great point - people know that Oregon State beat USC.  I have no idea if they beat Oregon or had any embarrassing losses off the top of my head, though.

But WTF does that mean for '07?  I never said it wasn't good for recruiting, it's just retarded to take that win out of context and extrapolate that into reasonable expectations.

Had we beaten ku and lost to UT.

Last years wins:

1-AA Ill St.
3-8 Fla Atl
4-7 Marshall
7-6 (3-5) OSU
2-10 (2-6) Colorado
3-8 (1-7) Iowa State
5-7 (2-6) Kansas

People would be saying, "sure, 7 wins were nice but you beat one bowl team, and didn't beat a single big 12 opponent with a winning % over 40.

I'll take the alternative of, "OMG! Texas game fluke big time! GBR! Rock Chalk!"

our rapid decline MIGHT have something to do with a person called Ell Roberson graduating, and a person by the name of Dylan Meier replacing. so please everybody QFT   :banghead:

Do anyone remember there being some talk right after the Fiesta Bowl of Ell trying get another year of eligibility like Jason White got?  I don't remember what the attempt to gain another year was for, I just remember hearing something about it at the time.  If that would have happened we might have never had a decline or at least a delayed one.  Or if Snyder would have kept recruiting Omar Jacobs(?), the QB who went to Bowling Green, things might have been different.

He could have taken out a student loan for a semester.  I'm guessing it would have been about 6k depending on number of classes.

It would have been two semesters and chances are that it would have been completely unnecessary. Snyder wouldn't have let him play. When you pull a guys scholarship you are usually saying &@#% off to the guy.
