In a nutshell, my buddy Timmy keep screwing around with things, and has some really dumbass ideas.
Can you give some examples or are you just assuming?
The original HOK proposal has been dumbed way down, they originally designed a facility that would be built on to the west side of the Arena, that would have two full length courts and be a state of the art basketball center for both the men's and women's program. The top floor being the two basketball courts, with a "Grand Entrance" reception area and offices for the men's and women's program. The lower level would've been a new basketball weightroom and dressing rooms for both the men's and the womens with a new tunnel entrance into Bramlage that would've come out of the West side stands (Alumni side). Had KSU gone with that, it quite frankly would've been one of the Top 3 collegiate basketball practice/office facilities in the country.
HOK Designed a 2 story HOF that would run the length of the South End of The Stadium and be built on to Bramlage with the Legends Room Doubling in size and being able to overlook both the football stadium and basketball court. The first floor of the HOF facility would've actually have been a tunnel from the East to West sides of the stadium (and vice versa). The entrances on all four sides would have been expanded on Bramlage, and a new athletic administrative office facility would've been attached to the HOF sitting on the Northwest Corner of Bramlage/Southwest corner of the football stadium. The new South videoboard for the football stadium would've been installed on top of the HOF facility overlooking the stadium.
Now Weiser is looking at a considerably dumbed down practice facility to built on the South side of Bramlage, and I don't know what they're looking at now for the administrative offices and HOF.
The original HOK designed also called for the sports complex parking lot to be broken up with Boulevards. Imagine two Capital T's with the Crossed part being the entrances to the East and West Side of the Football Stadium. The West Side of the Football stadium would get all new restrooms and concessions, the "entry way" on the east and west side would (the Crossed T section running from Bramlage to Kimball on both sides) would be lined (every 20 or 30 feet) with 12 foot or so tall limestone pillars that had focused spotlights shooting pillars of light into the sky, with KSU engravings on each. There would also be trees planted and sitting benches in this "plaza". The bisection of this would be two boulevards one on each side of the stadium running from the stadium entrances to College on the West Side and to the grass parking on the East Side (with vehicle lanes to several sections of course to cross to the other side of the boulevard). Those parkways or boulevards would've been about 100 yards wide with walkways to the stadium entrances on both sides that had limestone inlay, and with the same limestone pillars as the stadium entry plazas every so often commemorating a decade of the University and with university related engravings on each. The middle would've been grass and available for a "cat town" setting on both sides with Corporate tents and such. In the parkways there would've been plots for planting flowers encircling tall grass prarie grasses. Think of Ward Parkway in KC only commerating KSU's Flinthills, limestone prarie heritage. Every so many feet a tree would've been planted along the parkway sidewalks as well.
But from what I hear that was all too much for Weiser to chew on
