Nothing confirmed, but a lot of separate sources are talking about it so it would seem to have some truth to it. Personally, I do think it's true.

sounds like all he did was resist arrest -- not too big a deal as long as what he was arrested for is something minor such as MIP or something.

I heard he was drinking and then resisted arrest. From there, if it is all true, I guess it just depends on what happened and how much he resisted. We'll see.

I don't know if any of you still care, but apparently he didn't think he deserved to be arrested so he wouldn't put his wrists together to be handcuffed--thus resisting arrest. This account is from people who were there.

I have no idea why he drew their attention in the first place though.

Purify Arrested
Lincoln
Reporter: KOLN/KGIN
Email Address: [email protected]
Lincoln Police arrested Husker wide receiver Maurice Purify after a disturbance in a Lincoln bar at 11:50 p.m. Saturday.

Police say Purify was arrested on two counts of assault and one count of resisting arrest.

Police say Purify and a friend were denied admittance by a doorman at a Lincoln bar Saturday night.

Later Saturday night, at a different bar, the Alley Bar, 1031 M Street, police say Purify saw the same doorman and confronted him.

Police say Purify threw a punch at the man. Police also say Purify also assaulted the man's girlfriend when she intervened.

When police arrived, they say Purify didn't comply with their orders.

Purify was taken to jail and was let out on bond early Sunday afternoon.

University of Nebraska Athletic Department Media Relations Director Keith Mann said a statement would be released later Sunday.

I don't know how accurate that article is, but we will see.  I hate when all I hear is the word assault.  Does that mean a push, a punch or spitting on somebody?  they use that word to describe a million different things.  if it was a fist then he might not be around.  Callahan is a very strict coach.  ifr he is allowed to stay then I doubt it's as bad as they are saying in the article.  Either way, I bet he misses atleast the first game of the year, maybe more

What a POS. Throw him off the team.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

If he was just a recruit, Callahan would've brought in him anyway . . . under double secret probation.

Well, I just heard about the article and all I can say is that he definitely deserves to be kicked off the team if the allegations are true. What they are alleging is pretty awful. Even if it's not all true he is stupid. He is basically throwing away a future in the NFL just so he could fight a doorman.

I just got off the phone with a friend of mine that was there, saw the whole thing.  first off, it wasn't just mo, a girl and a guy.  It was them, and a couple frat boy type guys mixed in.  anyway, they argued, they pushed and shoved as young mren do, the doorman guy grabbed mo around the throat and then mo started the punching.  I would guess if a guy grabbs your throat you can hit him back.  Anyway, right in the middle of the fists flying the chick jumps in at purify.  It sounds like she was huit, but my buddy watching said that it's possible she got hit by both parties because punches were going around her, over her and it's possibler her own man clocked her.  Either way, any damage she sustained was unintentional.  Anyways, both men were arrested, or atleast both were handcuffed.  outside one of the late cops to arrive recognized the doorman as a buddy of his, he spoke to the arresting officer and the guy was uncuffed and let go.

I guess the policy is, just find the biggest blakc man you cna find and put the cuffs on.  If what I am hearing is true it's no more than a 1-2 game suspension, if that.  ofcourse cally is so damn strict it could be worse.  Or mo could just get some continuances with the help of a good lawyer and the season would be over before this ever goes to court.

You already know what kind of disciplinarian Callahan is. He kicked an all-conference linemen (Incognito) off the team for fighting. Expect something similar here unless what is being reported is false.

LOL. Incognito was a nut that even huggins would cut from the team. He was also a solich lineman, worthless for BC.

This is the true test.

Doesn't much matter anyway - from what I saw of Purify last year, he's not much of a player anyway (read over hyped).  He'd have caught a few balls for 8 to 10 yards on third and long.  They've got others that can do that.

"this will be big to see what kind of disciplinarian callahan is."

lol.

charles woodson ( all pro in the nfl, suspended one game for being late to team meeting

richie incognito- all american, 2 years elgability left
david horne- starting 4 star rb
ross pilkington-all conferance starting wr
chris patrick- starting offensive tackle
grant mulkey #2 fullback
justin tomerlin- 4 star juco d=end
dontrell moore-grades

do we need to go on?  and since somebody stupidly said richie doesn't count because he wasn't bc's recruit, which is retarded, he was the best player on the team and the best lineman in the big 12 and his loss hurt, nomatter who recruited him.  anyway, chris patrcik and tomerlin were both callahan recruits.

 :blahblah:

So, was your "buddy" watching or not???  "Sounds like" and "possible" and "unintentional" must be considered as words of certainty in huskerland.

he said that it was a fight, fists were flying right and left.  very hard to keep track of who hit who and who hit her.

I don't see why she is upset though.  don't matter if your a man or woman, if you jump in a fight you run the risk of getting hurt.  if you stick your finger in a light socket to see if it's "live" do you blame the wiring when you get a jolt?  please.  It isn't like he purposely sought her out and hit her, that would be one thing.  But, it's probaly pretty hard to stop a punch once you throw it.  I have been in lots of fights but I never had to try and stop a punch because some stupid bitch thought it would be a good idea to jump infront of my fist

Why are you guys "testing" Callahan?

Purify will receive a just punishment and deserves one--that's not in question. What bothers me is that I am sensing judgment from many of you on our program that is poorly founded. Snyder had a horrible record of arrests with players, and he wasn't exactly an angel at punishing them either (proof is available upon request). What about Osborne and Solich? They were in the same boat as Snyder.

Like I said, Purify will be punished, but I would appreciate if a few of you spared us your judgmental attitudes. I highly doubt any of you actually care about what he did. Your main interest in this story is that Nebraska's best wide receiver is in trouble. If one of our third-string walk-ons got in a fight none of you would care.  :users:
