Remember those folks that would always cheer for K-State in football and ku in basketball? Fair wheater fans always pissed me off. I really don't see that much difference in those guys versus the ones that automatically throw Freeman aside after a bad performance at the Spring Game. Sure, reference the Texas Bowl and ku game, however then you were still at Freeman's side. The truth is, you got a taste of Coffman, playing versus the weaker defense of the two. He had some good streaks, but remember that of those 19 pts scored only one was could be called earned offense points. A safety, a field goal and starting a TD drive within the five hardly give credit to Coffman as a starting QB.
Freeman has some strides to make. Those streaks of brillance (last couple minutes of OSU, Texas game, do you remember his completetion rate in Bolder?) show that he has the potential to be not only our main man, but the one the Nation is watching. Remember, Freeman was National Player of the Week and two-time Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week...as a TRUE FRESHMAN. Don't judge the career Freeman has before him off the turnover ratio that occurs when you start a true freshman. He should be prime for his sophomore campaign and if things go right, a Heisman candidate for his junior year. Coffman's performance in the Spring Game should give confidence that we can be alright if Freeman goes down.
