I feel there is some overated coaches in the Big 12, they may be able to recruit, but they lack the skill on saturdays. This is my ranking of big 12 coach's skill level. I do not speak of skill to recruit due to school's history.
Best to worst
1. Bob Stoops (Won a national championship and knows defense better than anyone in the big 12.)
2. Mike Leech (Has made Texas Tech one of the most consistent teams in Big 12, due to his pass-happy offense, makes every quarterback into big time stat guy.)
3. Franchione (Took A&M from very average team to this last year's Holiday Bowl invitation, beat Texas, and has made A&M a power once again in the Big 12.)
4. Buddah ( Has a good gameplan, knows how to play Big 8 football, which is run the ball and play solid defense. Should be a big winner in the future, if he can get some talent, ku's b-ball team needs to play football, just to have some 5 star talent.)
5. Morriss ( Has put into place a nice passing offense, have won some big 12 games finally, which says something for the coaching. Some hope in Waco.)
6. Prince ( Beat Texas, had a 2-1 record against south teams, took his team to bowl game which prior two KSU teams had not been to a bowl, even with help of Snyder at head coach. Started many youngsters, QB, RB, OL, DE, DB.)
7. Gundy( Plays in south making it harder to win games, won a big game against NU, putting him higher on list, may not have tons of athletes on defense but gets job done.)
8. Callahan (A great coach for first quarter of game, still unable to make key adjustments during games. EX. vs. USC( unable to sense he needed to pass the ball until it was too late in game, and played it safe, coaches don't win that way.) vs. OSU, ( first half ran all over OSU, but for some reason put the game on Taylor's shoulders, therefore losing game.) vs. OU and Auburn,( could not get it done when his team was controlling game, he also had silly play calls against auburn on special teams in NU's half of the field, giving away points.)
9. Pinkel ( Has beat the average teams very easily, can not win on road.)
10. Hawkins ( Had horrible quarterback, thank god for their savior Hawkins JR. KSU's Prince built offense from nothing, Hawkins needs to figure this out and he moves up the list.)
11. Mack Brown's assistant coach, now ISU's coach. ( Is unknown, had bad secondary at Texas.)
12. Mack Brown ( the most overrated coach ever, can recruit though. Has the best assistant coaches money can buy.)
