Henson said by phone Thursday night that he would gladly listen if he gets a call about the coaching job.

I'd cheer for Henson, just like I did when I was 10. :)

Henson wouldn't be my first choice either necessarily but right now I just want someone with a little bit of loyalty

Of course he would listen!  It would be the deal of his life!

This is stupid.  If we don't hire a big name it has all been wasted.

If we hire Henson we will be starting from scratch all over again.  I don't want to have to do that, but we may have no choice.

I'd love to have Steve, but I don't want to ruin his career, which is what will happen to whomever we get.  KSU basketball is done, cooked to burnt shell.  Thank you Bob Huggins you worthless piece of crap.

Wasn't he the muppet creator.  Think he is with Berringer these days.

Guard at K-State.  Shot free throws real well.  Had brother, Brian play for a year, then baseball then basketball again?

He was at the tail end of our success before Asbury destroyed us.

Sorry, I was just being dumb because the article that contained this info was already in another thread.  (CF0102 posting before reading as usual.)

i have fond memories of steve henson with ksu.  i don't want them destroyed by watching him flail and fail as head coach.  same reason i was never too keen on the rolando discussions.

brian henson, on the other hand, can just go eat a big fat dick.

Steve Henson is my favorite K-State player of all time.  He's the ultimate Kansas kid success story.  I went to a Lon Kruger basketball camp one time and Lon said that before Steve came to KSU, he couldn't dribble with his left hand.  He had very limited natural ability, but a ton of desire and love for K-State.

With that said, he's way down my list of guys I want to see coaching K-State next year.  Maybe some day, but not now.  To this point, he really hasn't proven anything except that he can follow Kruger around.  I'd much rather make a run at an experience "name" coach, Grant or Crazy Frank.

Just because we got burned by a "guy who wanted to go home" doesn't mean we need a hometown hero hire.  It means we need better business policy in hiring our new coach than we had last time.

Henson is easily more qualified then Frank Martin he's coached longer and on better teams.  He played in the NBA, he's coached in the NBA,  he's coached at Illinois and at UNLV.  Not saying he should be the guy but he deserves a look he's roughly 40 years old now the right age for him to make this leap.

I'm all for Henson. He has years of college and NBA experience (player & coach), and from what I can gather, is a pretty good coach. He's from McPherson, loves K-State, and alums would back him. Don't say "loyalty=coach like Wooly"... loyalty is a good thing, just like talent, drive, etc.

Ideally, he'd be willing to keep Hill on for a little while, but who knows about that. If he works out, we could truly have a "Snyder-esque" dynasty in our b-ball program. I don't think we'd have to worry about him going anywhere else.

Besides, he stands for what K-State stands for ... loyalty, hard work, determination, etc.
