What I think will and should happen is they won't release anyone until we get a new coach.  Then the coach will try to talk the players into staying and if they still want out, they will be released.  This is what tends to happen.  After the presser, ADTW sounds pissed enough to hold them hostage though

This is normal for a school to do.  You wait until you hire a coach and let him re-recruit the kids.  If the kids still have no interest in playing for the new coach you let them go.  ku fans need to be quiet on this I remember the Padgett kid making comments like he didn't want to go to ku after Roy left but they forced him to go there for a year and later sit out a year under NCAA transfer rules when he left.  The kids knew what they were doing when they signed the LIT with KSU. I feel sorry for them because Huggins sold them a bill of goods and then bolted.  Their lives are on hold  now until we get a coach and this thing sorts itself out but that is Huggins fault not KSU's. Any school anywhere would do the exact same thing it's standard policy in athletic departments.
