    warm up the EMAW
He visited my lady's 'Women in Leadership' class co-taught by none other than Zoe Prince.

-Says his life will be defined by more than just football.  In 20 years wants to be doing something else, wants to be a History teacher.

-Takes son to work once a week.

-On hiring/firing philosophy:  Wants younger guys that are hungry.  Believes in 'contract year' for pro athletes and seeks out people on the cusp of getting bigger, better jobs and wants to keep the staff hungry, young and fresh (no, he isn't a gay porno producer).  Was told at some of his jobs earlier on to lie about his age.

-  Writes 6 letters a day.  5 to people he knows and 1 to someone he doesn't

-  Claimed to have slept only 3 hours a night at some point in his coaching career.  It is unclear if he still does this.  I find this improbable.

-  Is not afraid of change.

Most of this you've probably heard before and it isn't the real point of this.  The point is that women love this guy.  My lady hates football.  HATES FOOTBALL.  She played high school b-ball, dad coached b-ball, likes b-ball, understands b-ball.  HATES FOOTBALL.  Now, wants to get tickets and understand football.  All of her friends, love Ron.  I'm in college of education classes and hear fairly regular Prince love.  I understand Snyder wasn't exactly a snuggle bear, but this is weird to me.  Is this just a matter of campus visibility, giving speeches, great media saavy?

wtf?

He's got an open friendly personality off the field.  What's not to like?

It makes me uneasy.  Snyder used to have volunteers run laps around the stadium to prevent people from sneaking a peek at practice from the Bramlage ramp (I tried once).

Prince has open practices.

Snyder used to show open disdain for the media,  Prince treats the program like he's promoting a stock.

Snyder used to hole himself up in his office and endlessly obsess over minute details like which side of the plane we are flying on to the Coca-Cola Bowl in Japan.  Ron Prince reads a book a week and sends out 6 letters a day.

I'm not saying it can't be successful, but it is increasingly clear that this is a complete shift in ideaology.  TOTAL.  COMPLETE shift.

Snyder didn't have womanly attractive charisma.

Prince makes the ladies woozy.

Women will wear less to see him.

So does Mangino.

I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

Woozy for Prince = weak in the knees, smitten.  Woozy for Mangino = vomitting blood followed by endless dry-heaving.

While Prince has opened some things up more, its not like the program is an open book.  As J-Mart has hinted, there are plenty of issues getting access to information from the program.

Prince has a better understanding or willingness to use good PR to sell his program though.  As long as he wins and runs a good program, I have no problem with it.

But would you let your wife/girfriend/significant other go to watch a practice in miniskirt with a thong underneath, short mid-riff showing blouse, sandals, leaning back on the bleachers...

I'd let her cater herself like a buffet to Prince but that environment lends itself to multiple orifice violation syndrome (MOVS).

Wants to be teaching in twenty years? I guess he knows as well as we do that his success won't last very long (as in he peaked last year).

WTF are you talking about?  Prince doesn't read idiotic books for kids.  He reads idiotic books for business managers.

Rumor has it that he's read "Who Moved my Cheese?" eight times.

He was also close to fifty when he took the job. Prince is 37.

Prince is just telling his audience what he thinks they'd like to hear. He's speaking to a group of women and telling them he'd like to be teaching in 20 years. He's playing them.

So I guess that bit about wanting to be the "Joe Pa of the Great Plains" was just bullcrap.  Why am I not surprised that something that came out of RP's mouth was just so much BS?

He said it a few times early on.  Apparently his first season has taken 40 years or so off his coaching ambitions.   :D
