Ok, well kind of.
A good friend of mine plays for Arkansas. They play Auburn every year, and they beat Auburn last year. I told him we were playing them this year and asked him what he thought of them. Not direct quotes, but mostly me summing up our convo from memory.
Offensively - Not a lot of info. My buddy plays on offense and so didn't really know a lot about it/pay attention to it. What he did say was Auburn plays ball/clock control football. They'll run, run, and run some more. Short passes occasionally to keep the defense honest, but rarely will they throw a bomb unless they really feel like they have the mismatch. The complete opposite of Prince's offensive philosophies. No bold and daring here, instead boring and predictable. They never score much, but they have enough athletes to put points on the board and then let the defense handle the rest.
Defensively - This is what he went on and on and on about.
Defensive line - The best they faced last year. Probably the best in the nation. Keep in mind Arkansas played USC, Florida, and LSU last year too, so he has that to compare it to. Amazing at stopping the run AND pass rushing.
Linebackers - Freak athletes. Amazing. Ultra agressive, to a flaw. Said when they were watching film they saw an Auburn linebacker actually leap OVER a standing o-lineman to go after the ball carrier in the backfield. It ended up being a mistake as by the time he had cleared the offensive linemen's head/shoulders, the ball carrier had gotten around the lineman and there was a nice hole where the linebacker should have been plugging the gap and they ended up with decent yardage out of it. He also pointed out an example that they used against Auburn, a trick play where they handed off directly to the back(who was crouched behind the offensive line) and the linebackers overpursued the quarterback and in the meantime the halfback ran outside and picked up like 20-30 yards before someone in the secondary finally caught him.
Secondary - If the Auburn D has a weakness, this is it. They won't ever let you get a bomb against them, but that has a lot to do with the QB having almost no time to throw. They'll let you throw the short passes, but never let you gain yards after the catch. Extremely fast.
Philosophy - Absolutely hate it when people throw on them. When a team does, they'll punish the QB by blitzing and blitzing and blitzing and hurting him. Philosophy is that if the QB has time to throw the pass then they're not getting to him soon enough. Usually when a QB is getting blitzed like that they would just hand it off, but the amazing D-line is usually good enough to stop the run without the help of the missing linebackers. If you're going to score on them, you have to chip away yardage instead of making big plays.
Keep in mind he gets these opinions from one Mr. Houston Nutt, who I'm not really sure about. But they did manage to win their division and win convincingly @Auburn last year, so I figure they know what they're talking about at least in regards to Auburn.
