Octavio Dotel is battling a slight strain in his left oblique muscle. They think it's minor but David Riske will be the closer if Dotel can't. Luke Hudson's shoulder is coming along well. He's planning on being in the rotation by mid-April.

I'm optimistic.....Lets Play Ball!!!!!

seeing as how dotel might be the only way the royals improve dramatically in the W-L column, losing him for any length of time could be a disaster.

    The very best.
Glad to hear it. I hope the Royals are horrible.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

this was one game.  There will be 161 more.  I think it might be a bit premature to say that money was well spent.

But then again, you're a Royals fan so you're probably a mental midget with incredibly low expectations.  Do you love Mike Sweeney too?

The best caller was during Soren's Magic number call-in segment and a guy called in and said

He followed it up by saying he would sacrifice a used car salesman to get to 70 wins this year.

Octavio Dotel is scheduled to test his strained left oblique early next week by throwing from a mound, and lefty setup reliever John Bale could begin his minor-league rehab assignment by the weekend.

The current timetable for both targets a mid-May return.

Sounds like things could be getting better!

Right-hander Luke Hudson allowed one earned run, three hits and struck out seven in 4 1/3 innings Wednesday night in a rehab start for Class AA Wichita in Springfield, Mo. Hudson has been sidelined all season because of a strained right shoulder.

Right-hander Scott Elarton continues his recovery from shoulder surgery tonight when he pitches for Class AAA Omaha against Nashville. He allowed four earned runs and 11 hits in eight innings in two previous rehab starts.

Octavio Dotel is ready to come back but Joakim Soria is really pitching well right now only giving up 1 hit, 2 walks and striking out 3 in his last 3 2/3 innings picking up 3 saves in the process. What will we do at the closers role?

The Yankees tied a major league record by using a total of 9 starting pitchers in the first month of the season.  Even the unlucky Royals weren't on that list.
