Hoping for 75 wins is a sad sad thing.  It's physically draining to be a royals fan.

I still want my cooler, bitches!

They just showed on SportsCenter that the Phillies were trying to avoid their 10,000th all time loss yesterday. According to my math, which is always a hit and miss proposition, the Royals have 3,133 losses all time which isn't even close to the Phillies let alone the worst franchise in sports which we are if you listen to the national media.

The Philadelphia Phillies became a franchise in 1883.  The Kansas City Royals became a franchise in 1969.  Good comparison you f'ing idiot.
LOL, whoops.

I'm just happy they aren't the worst team in baseball. I believe they have better recods than three teams.

I can't believe all of the Royals hate on this board.  Maybe if you were born after 1993 it would be understandable, but if you had the chance to watch the 80's teams and players like Bo Jackson wear the powder blue it is not understandable.  The Royals are on the rise and it has more to do than just the w/l record this year compared to last.  They are not just pathetic this year and appear to be improving every month.  This team hasn't had one of those 13 game losing streaks like in years past which suggests to me that they are playing with a little more pride and have improved leadership.  The bullpen is shaping up nicely and this team is overachieving in all aspects of the game.  GMDM appears to be a good leader of this organization, my only concern has to go to ownership and the decisions they will be confronted with in about 3 or 4 years.

Talk about your dumb statements.....Stopping caring after you win a World Series. It went bad after Ewing Kauffman died. We had one more good stretch leading into the strike and it all went to hell after that.

It's OK. I stopped caring about the Arizona Diamondbacks after 2001.

I don't see what the problem here is.  I don't care about baseball at all.   Unless the home team is winning.

Sorry I didn't make that clear to you.

So were you an Asbury supporter or a Wooly supporter?  How many more 100-loss seasons will it take for you to put your powder blue George Brett jersey in the dirty laundry hamper for good?

I don't see the relevance in this comparison.  I like the Royals, so be it.  I could be like every other poser in the world and buy a Yankee or Red Sox hat and claim them as my own, but that wouldn't be keeping it real.  When Ron Prince successfully runs this program into the ground, will you go buy a Longhorns hat and claim UT as your own?

funniest comment from that article:

Addendum: Somewhere, George Brett is wiping pine tar all over his dick, and silently sobs while he beats off in the mirror as he realized how irrelevant this franchise has become.

Kono, your list of all-stars is a little misleading.  Carlos Beltran has been a starter in the last three MLB All-Star games, hitting a nice triple last night I might add.  Johnny Damon was a starter in 2005 and Jermaine Dye a starter in 2006.  And to show the longevity of Royals players, Tom Gordon was on the 2006 roster as well as a reserve pitcher, not too bad IMO.  Now I understand these players wear different colors now, but in my book they will always be Royals greats.  It's all we got, so please stop hating.

what's your point? We are fans of an irrelevant college football team, but it doesn't stop us from following their every move and criticizing every decision our negligible coaching staff makes.

Kono, your list of all-stars is historically factual.  Now I'll babble on about players we couldn't hold on to, and who have flourished since leaving this miserable franchise.

Fixed!

They were flourishing prior to their Royal exodus.  Perhaps the 19,000 ave. season attendance has something to do with the Royals inability to maintain these players.  That and the franchise has been run like a Wal-Mart.  Either way, the Royals organization is the last KC team to have won a championship, no I don't consider Soccer either a sport or relevant, therefore they remain the most successful sports franchise in the KC area.  But then again, that is like winning a gold medal in the special olympics.

The Royals need to win 2 out of 3 this weekend against Cleveland if they want to get to 70 wins. Do the Indians have anything to play for or do they rest their players to get ready for the playoffs therefore giving the Royals a chance?
