'07-'08 Wildcats:

PG: Clent Stewart
SG: Tyree Evans
SF: David Hoskins
PF: Michael Beasley
PF: Bill Walker

Bench: Blake Young, Jason Bennett, Luis Colon, Jacob Pullen, Domonique Sutton

'07-'08 Jayhawks:

PG: Russell Robinson
SG: Mario Chalmers
SF: Brandon Rush
PF: Julian Wright
PF: Darrell Arthur

Bench:  Sasha Kaun, Darnell Jackson, Sherron Collins, Cole Aldrich, Rodrick Stewart

Obviously this is assuming that Rush comes back.  He's not a guaranteed loterry pick or mid-first rounder, so it might be wise for him to stay.  If he leaves, go ahead and plug in Sherron Collins and you've got a team that resembles '05 Illinois.

K-State and ku will easily be the best two teams in the Big 12, as long as Durant goes pro.  Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Texas, and possibly even Mizzou and Baylor should all be decent.  This could be the best that the Big 12 has been in a long, long time.

After watching Beasley last night, I came away very impressed, just as everyone else.  He is without a doubt the best player in the class of '07.  Coaches are going to have nightmares trying to figure out how to guard that guy once he gets to K-State.  Carmelo Anthony is the closest comparison I can come up with.

Please try to keep the comments and discussion above a 9th grade level.  I realize everyone on this board hates me with a passion.  It would be nice to actually have some discussion for once though instead of the constant sarcasm and personal attacks.

Your guards are likely better scorers...although ours are untested and may end up being quite good.  If Sherrron gets most of Robinson's minutes, you'll be a better team.  Robinson is great, and would start for nearly every other Big 12 team...but Sherron is a game changer.

Your bigs are solid defenders and rebounders, but not really scoring threats.  Ours will normally score at will.  This is the most interesting matchup between the two teams.

However, we'll likely add another big to the mix before the spring is done....perhaps even at the expense of Bennett...but this really doesn't change things much.

Also, you are gay.

a little too early to start this thread when KSU has yet to complete the rest of the '07 class.

Likely adding Anthony Brown and who knows what will happen w/ Legion.  Seems like a longshot at this point but there is a lot of talk out there.

One thing is for sure..ku will not have a gross edge in talent and depth next year.  Still an edge in those areas but significantly reduced.

I agree. Kstate finally has a lineup to compete with ku. WE'll beat you. Good post.

Why do you crave the attention of the K-State fanbase and alumni so greatly?

While it's sort of cute, it's also somewhat confusing.

Guards: Advantage ku
RR, despite my hatred for him, improved a lot towards the end of the year. Still, he and chalmers will never strike fear in me. Collins is a stud, no way around it. He is a gamechanger.
Bigs: Advantage KSU
Arthur got worse and worse as the yr went on (typical of Bill Self standouts), Wright has never impressed me, Sasha is not anything special.
IMO, the key factor btw these two teams (last yr and this yr) is Hoskins. He got shut down in all 3 games bc of the length inside of ku...HOWEVER, now that BW and MB take up ku's 2 best post defenders, Hoskins will become much more available to do his thing.

Tyree will prob be a wildcard, if he's on, ksu will win a lot of games.
The talent level is very comparable btw the two, ku a little more experience, ksu with the coaching advantage.

We don't know enough yet about Walker or Evans to even call them "streaky."  My hunch is that you'll be hard pressed to find a game next year where BOTH Walker and Evans are cold.

Let's not forget Brown and Sutton...no one ever brings these guys up, but both bring much more talent than we lost this year (save for Cartier).

Well, last year Arthur felt more comfortable coming off the bench.  He picked up some quick fouls at the beginning of the game which forced him to the bench for almost the entire first half of the game.

Collins also chose to come off the bench because he didn't want to hurt team chemistry.  As long as he plays 25-28 minutes per game, it really doesn't matter if he starts or not.

I agree with the premise, but let's not forget that Darrell Arthur can score a lot of points when he gets his confidence back, and Darnell Jackson improved a lot as the season went along.  The problem I see with K-State's post players is that you may have trouble rebounding against more physical teams.  The good thing for K-State though is that your big guys (Beasley and Walker) will create a ton of mismatches out on the perimeter.  Either one of those guys can use their quickness to take the other team's big man off the dribble.  Julian and Darrell are ku's best options at stopping that dribble penetration.

Disagree with that one.  Robinson is pretty good, IMO.

Is Anthony Brown the post player from juco?  He could be a very solid addition, especially if Beasley is one and done.  Legion would be bad for team chemistry, IMO.

I know I don't know, for all I know Bill Walker won't be the same at all.

I'm assuming they will both be streaky as neither are pure shooters, and often non pure shooters are streaky.

See Lance harris.

When Robinson is at his very best he is solid, but when he is bad, he is horrible and a liability.

This is cute.

He's right though.  The two Kansas teams will be the best teams in the Big XII next year, at least from a talent standpoint.  I guess you could throw A&M in the mix if Billy G stays, as they're getting that really good center from Texas.

Yeah, show me a picture of your ugly ass.

I'm proud of who I am, what I have, and that I'm not like any of you assholes.

Catsdo must be anorexic, or else a cum-swallowing faggot who likes it up the ass.  I don't go to the rec with pussies.  Go cry yourself into a corner, bitch.

Catsdo, you are a bitch.  There is nothing in that picture that would lead anyone to believe I was overweight.  Now, quit being a fag who looks at guys' asses.  Simple as that.  Go cry yourself in a corner and bury that black shirt you wore last night.

Fine, then quit being a bunch of pussies and post your pics.  No need to see you, catsdo.  Everyone knows you're an anorexic faggot.

Hey, speaking of clothing... I heard they have 50% off of Wranglers and belt buckles up at Wal-Mart!  Fashion police, take notes.

I'll try to keep it on par with that.

Why? Are you seeking some sort of validation? You're not entertaining, objective or well-informed.
Shouldn't you be studying up so you segue right into that six-figure salary right out of college?

I'm not sure where you get this "coaching advantage" idea.  If Huggins were so much better of a coach than Self, shouldn't he have been able to steal at least 1 out of 3 from us last season?  90% of the college game is recruiting, and I don't think there is any better recruiter in the country than Bill Self, except for possibly Coach K.

The talent level will be the closest it's been since the '88 season.  K-State still has a bit of a weakness at point guard though.  Stewart is solid, but he has his limitations as a basketball player.

Right now, what are your guys' expectations for K-State next season?

Here's how I see it:

Regular season (Big 12): 13-3
Regular season (ranking):  top 15
Post-season (Big 12): 2-seed behind ku, loss in semi-finals
Post-season (Big Dance): 4-seed, Sweet Sixteen

Actually our team should look more like this:

'07-'08 Wildcats:

PG: Clent Stewart (ok)
SG: Tyree Evans (streaky)
SF: David Hoskins (solid)
PF: Michael Beasley (God's gift)
PF: Bill Walker (solid)

                 ?                     ?                   ?                   suck              ?                ?             suck
Bench: Alex Legion, Domonique Sutton, Blake Young, Jason Bennett, Jacob Pullen, Fred Brown, Luis Colon

Blake was starting to play well at the end of the year after finally adjusting.  Legion, Pullen, and Brown could be impact players

KSU will be able to match up with ku in the front court next year but ku will still have a big talent edge in the back court.  We just have not landed that one really good guard yet unless Tyree Evans turns out to be that guy but he's obviously a question mark at this point.

Another X factor that I forgot to mention is defense.  I know that Huggins preaches defense, but it's not always easy getting guys like Michael Beasley and Bill Walker to buy into that sort of thing.  ku's defense should be much better than K-State's, especially in the backcourt.

I'm just glad that UNC won't have Felton, McCants, May, and Williams (4 lottery picks)

Walker will play defense.  He's been around long enough to have it figured out and he was known for his defense coming out of HS.  Beasley will have a learning curve in that area I'm sure, but he'll learn on the floor.
