...he was down to two favorite schools – Kansas State and Northwestern – which had each offered him a scholarship. But since then, K-State has changed its focus to recruiting a center, which Ongenaet, who typically plays the 3 or 4 spot, clearly is not. Purdue was also in the picture last week, but the Boilermakers have told him that they, too, are in the hunt for a true center...

Regardless of whether we get Legion or not, we've probably found what we believe will be a better player.  I'm sure Onganaet will enjoy his great education and a couple of 14-16 seasons at Northwestern.

And it looks like he has a Pasco-esque summer ahead of him.  I'm sure the 35 NW fans will be following closely.

it is kind of amusing that a guy chooses (or would like to choose) nw, but essentially has to perpetuate clemmonsesque academic fraud in order to be admitted.

Pasco managed 18 hours, IIRC.

If Huggs is backing off of Ongenaet this late in the game they must feel pretty good about their chances with a player who will contribute more/sooner.  Where the hell are the GRCOAT spies when you need them?

Could it be this guy?

Special KATPAK goes to the first person to guess/remember who he is.

That's the Cinci Enquirer guy who came to Huggs' first press conference.  Dow.

Yeah, Clemmons was  a bunch funny business.  I would guess this guy is probably pretty smart if he has designs on NW.  Probably closer to Pasco than Clemmons.

Fatty beats me to it.

It's not hard to remember the guy that Bill "easy going" Walker absolutely hates.

good point.  i guess it is more of an oranges to oranges comparison.

i was surprised to hear than onge thinks of himself as more of a 3.  my guess is he was bing recruited to fill kent's shoes, but now the staff has been able to talk kent into staying another year.

I think the staff puts more stock into role players than you presume.  Kent could be a solid role player in the paint the next couple years to give Beasley a break now and then.

Kent should be a walk-on. It's a miracle he got a big 12 offer.

We need a Lorenzo Mata.

Can't disagree with that.

That said, Huggs obviously likes Kent and the role he played on this team based on what I saw this year.

Merriewether's a walk-on, right?  In order for Kent and Yearby to retain their scholarships, they should have to fight Frank Martin in  no holds barred cage match.  If either of them can get out of the cage alive, they get to retain their scholarship.

I'd take Kent over Yearby in a heartbeat, why does everyone always get brought up and not yearby in these situations?

The loser will be forced to answer the following question, "Who Runs Huggieville?"   They will answer, but will be full of shame.

I think everyone forgets that Yearby is on the team.

Christ, Wooldridge was horrible.

It's amazing....Wooly gets a "package deal" with a coach and his player and the player is terrible.  Huggins has at least figured out that the player should be worth it.

i started the original comparison of onge to everyone because everyone is white and nimble.  unlike yearby.

I'm getting a bad feeling yearby/kent will stay.

:(

Though I do feel bad for Kent, he gave me a high-five in an OKC restaurant after we beat Tech.
