There's a new sheriff in town.
Gawd, I hope so.
And I think it actually started last year.
They rode their reputation all year long this year.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
I'm indifferent at worst when it comes to Duke.  I don't get what the big deal is.

duke's 2007 class:

#5 kyle singler
#22 taylor king
#25 nolan smith

the 2006 class:
#10 gerald henderson
#20 lance thomas
#25 brian zoubek
#28 john scheyer

the 2005 class:
#1 josh mcroberts
#13 greg paulus
#39 eric boateng
#53 martynas pocius
#60 jamal boykin

boykin and boateng are no longer on the team.

sure they've had some misses, but recruiting 7 top 30 players in 2 years is not a recipe for disaster.

how would you feel if huggs signed 7 top 30 players over the next 2 years?

People dislike Duke basketball for the same sorts of reasons they dislike Notre Dame football.

Lack of success relative to their exposure?  I don't think Duke quite fits into that category.

No, people hate Notre Dame even when they are good.  It's things like being a media darling, getting more than their fair share of exposure, and perceived special treatment given.  It's not really about Duke (or Notre Dame) and what they do.  It's about how they're treated differently by others.

If for the types of reasons above, I might agree.

"Special treatment" is always given to the elite.

People hate Duke b/c they are jealous of their program.

Who wouldn't want the 68 NCAA tournament wins, 17 Sweet 16s (including 9 straight!), 11 Elite 8s, 10 Final Fours, 7 National Title game appearances, and 3 National Titles that they've had under Coach K.

Those are rediculous, and all while running what appears to be a clean program.

It's not just about the winning.  People didn't hate Carolina under Dean Smith the way that they hate Duke now.  Sure, Carolina didn't win as much as Duke, but they didn't receive nearly as much hate either.  Not even close.

    The very best.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Duke’s problem isn’t with the players, it’s with their coach.  Krewzajakouscyiziwakiozuitski is so overrated that it isn’t even funny anymore.  He has been getting multiple McDonald All-Americans each and every year and he always has both a line-up and bench full of them, but they play soft and they continually underachieve.  Give those players to a hard-nosed, demanding coach and Duke wins three out of every four Nation Championships.  But I don’t care much for Duke, and I have no compassion for their problems...

That's a strong opinion.  Is Durham one big ghetto or something?

Is Duke's Decade Of Dominance over? Heck Chum1, I don't know.  I don't know.
Could there be a little crumbling on the iron clad armor that is Duke 'hoops?  Sure seems like it.
Looks to me like a team called the Kansas State Wildcats won more games this season than the Dookies.  But that's ok, they're going to get their wins, their losses, some OT games that turn into real thrillers for people to remember the season about.  It's something called basketball lore.  Decode the decade is a term I often used when describing the Dookie's penchant for punishing people in the pivot.  That seems to be changing...McRoberts has declared himself eligible for the draft.  Next year Duke's pivot will be one man short, as McRoberts, the versatile sophomore forward, who averaged 13 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists this past season, decided to forgo his final two years in Durham.  Don't forget that there is more to a team than the number of BURGERBOYS that sit on the bench of the number of stars next to a recruit's name.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

I have wondered about Duke, its private, and quite difficult to get into; so its sort of surprising how so many AA have no problem getting in, playing ball and maintaining a decent GPA.

Can you do a rant on me?  You know, like the ones you do on Clifton, Coach K, and Nancy Zimpher.

    Overkill. It works.
I think they're pretty screwed - at least for a little while.

Fine with me.  I f'n hate Duke, along with UNC, ku, etc.  I have no real reason for this, other than they remind me of ND in football.  At least the Dukies don't have their own exclusive network deal though.
