If anyone should complain about the conference not being strong enough in hoops, it should be KSU.  The Cats are the ones that didn't get  into the tourney because of it.  All ku has to do is schedule a tougher non-con...maybe with an OOC game in Feb.  Instead, they schedule one or two tough non-con games (at home or at neutral sites) and pad the rest of the schedule for wins so they can get a high tourney seed.  Hey Hawks, if your schedule is tougher, you are coming from a #3 or #4 seed because you have a few more losses.  Either way, you have to win the games.  UCLA shot lights out on tough shots and ku blew the floaters in the lane that everyone wants to call layups.
