    The very best.
7 elite 8's

6(!!) times they've been a 1 seed!
3 times they've been a 2 seed!

Unreal. That has to burn them.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Imagine having to go through '98 football (but in basketball) nearly every year.  Amazing.

Maybe if they got crafty with it and played just badly enough to make a #2 seed they could make it.

I'm beginning to understand why their basketball fanbase is so bitter and hateful.

I grew up in Lawrence.  It pisses most of the town off how often ku drops the ball in tourney play to teams they could or should beat.  Most of them accept defeat before the campionship game and just guess which team will knock ku out so it doesn't hurt as bad when it happens.

I still want my cooler, bitches!

I tend to think Kansas will get one under Self. But I guess that is just the gut feeling of a stray husker fan who accidently wandered onto the basketball board.

My question is, do you think Huggins will be able to sustain the amazing recruiting he has been doing? If he does, Kansas State could find itself contending for one too.

He's after some top prospects.. I don't think we will ever have the number one class again but a top ten class could pop up a few more times...

Maybe this is karma catching up for how fortunate they were to win in '88.

DeMarcus Cousins.

If we can pull off Gates and Gibson, we might even be top 5.

Yeah, wasn't the 1988 team called Danny Manning and the Miracles (or something like that)?

I always think of ku as this dominant force in basketball, but I forget how big of a surprise they were back then.

Living in Lawrence for 4+ years, I hear how every year is THE year and how Roy royally screwed them. Quality entertainment.  :chirp:

I'm telling you, this is not ANYTHING like the team from the beginning of conference play. You will see no more blowouts like what happened in OOC.  If we lose, it will not because these kids gave up, and it will be at the buzzer. -Rodless, before 97-70

If national titles were all that mattered than what would that say about Kstate's entire athletic existence?

I'm not saying that the 1988 championship was just yesterday, but ku has been consistently among the best in the country every single year. How many programs can say that?

KSU clearly had the better team that year.  And OU was clearly better than KSU.

ku being elite is a myth.  They have been the king of the crapheads for years being the only school that emphasizes basketball in a football conference.  They rack up glitzy records playing against horid teams which leads to high seeds which allows them to play mediocre teams in round 1 and 2 of the tourney most years.  Losing year after year after year to teams outside of conference in the tourney is not just a fluke.  If ku were in the ACC they would be a slightly above average program.  2 total championships, 1 19 years ago, the other in the 50's before anyone cared about ncaa basketball does not equate to "elite".

ku is elite. The only people who even deny this are bitter rival fans. Even the media talking heads say ku is elite and they always back it up with facts such as tournament appearances, wins in the tournament, conference championships, elite eights, final fours, championship game appearances.

Sorry Dax, but burying your head in the sand and ignoring ku's achievements just won't work.

Elite would mean ku would be one of America's favorite basketball teams.

What year did ku go undefeated before losing in the tourney?  97?  That team should have won it all.  it is pretty unexplainable how they have not won a ccg in 20 years.

Yeah, samples from people that don't follow college basketball are always accurate. ku should move to the east coast I guess.
