Some have suggested the autobids from the absolutely horrible conferences be forced into a playoff games so that there is more room for the at large bids.

How about the concept of getting rid of more of the autobid conference retards?(hereon reffered to as the contards, similar to our friends the nortards)

The concept is that the NCAA should forcibly combine/realign many of the @#%$ty conferences.  At a quick glance, you'll notice many of the contards that receive autobids are in conferences with eight teams, nine teams, eight teams, more nine teams, etc.  If these conferences were to fill up to 15 or so teams (similar to the Big XII and Big East) then several of the autobids would be eliminated.  If this could be done it would effectively give the teams in the contards an autobid possibility if they win their new conference, but still allow the committee to choose more at large bids to assure that the field of 65(which should be narrowed to 64, 65 is retarded and only because of the extra contard autobid) consisted more of quality teams that actually have a shot at the elite eight, final four, and championship.

The best thing about this idea is that if a contard conference has more than one quality team that deserves to get in, then they can still earn an at large bid.  The other benefit is the contard winners don't take up as many spots in the dance just because they won some tiny and absolutely horrible conference like they do now, and if their conference consists of 15 or so teams then the chances of the conference winner actually being able to play worth a damn is much higher.

There's my theory.

Or, and this is my solution, we could start our own Tourney...a better Tourney.  We would invite only teams we deem fit, like USC and Texas and Texas Tech because we have beat them before.  We would take Syracuse because they got reemed too and why not Drexel.  From there we take a few more at large teams, which would be willing to leave the NCAA tournament or they could play in both, we don't care.

Here is where it gets good, we settle the games on the court in the 'Gon.  We have a committee of KSU students and fans debate and fill out a bracket on the court in Bramlage.  IF we come out on top, we are the national champs!

Excellent suggestion.

This tournament should be officiated by KSU students and grads as well.

The tournament is fine the way it is.  I think the 34 at large is one too many b/c the play-in game is stupid imo.  The reason we are complaining and trying to come up with a new solution is b/c we were b/t numbers 66-70 this year or 35-40 of the at-large teams.  If we were like Arkansas and were in opposed to them, they would be doing exactly what we are doing (w/less to b!tch about).  This is what the tournament wants...people talking about it.

I would change one thing and that is to make it impossible for a team to get an at-large bid if they are under .500 in conference.  If they win their tourney, then they get the auto bid which I am fine with.  I think this may become a rule they go with soon, but it will only take one Duke (they were close this year at 8-8) to make them re-consider.

Seriously, does a team that can't go .500 or better in their own conference even deserve to play for a National title?

Good call.

A team that wins a conference with only 8 teams in it and all with horrible records doesn't either though.

Combine the smaller horrible conferences into bigger horrible conferences.  Chances that the winner will be worthy of playing in the big dance are much higher, and it keeps some horrible team from keeping a deserving at-large team out.

The 65th game is retarded.

They could also give the autobid for each conference to the regular season champ.  That would weed out the few questionable mid majors who make conference tourney runs every year.

I am fine with all of the auto-bids from the small conferences b/c it sets up what can be a great story.  These schools have all done what is required of them to be considered D1 so they should all get their chance.   In reality we are really splitting hairs b/c ILL, Ark, ODU, Stanford, and Texas Tech. are not going to win it all this year.  A couple of them might win a game or 2 which is what it is all about.  Now KSU, syracuse, and Drexel likely would be about as apt to win a couple as those others.  It does suck that we are on the outside looking in, and you can make an argument for how we got screwed, but you can do the same thing with 3 or 4 other teams.

I don't quite understand what happenned to N Dakota St as they were considered D1 this year, but are not eligible for post-season play.  They will win the Mid-Con next year.

Another thing regarding myself.  I still haven't been able to get myself to take a look at the brackets yet after I saw KSU was left out.
