Since Howard (Sirius subscriber) is on vacation this week, I actually caught most of that segment. Sundvold was truthful, discussing the talent of Walker as well as Walker's walking down court in the same game (TTech). It was fair criticism, but Sundvold was also full of crape in some of his commentary.
(Paraphrase) The NBA looks at how hard a guy plays. When his team is down 15, does he continue to play with fire. Walker does not. NBA scouts take notes. And they notice things like that. If a team is picking a player and they have a choice between a much more talented 6'6" unlimited potential player (Walker) or another player of similar stature but less talent who plays hard for 40 minutes, the franchise will take the the player who plays hard"/ (end paraphrase)
So I immediately thought of a guy like Darnell Jackson. Would an NBA franchise pick a (hard working) player with limited talent over a guy with unlimited potential (Walker)? I think not. But you never know.
His criticism of Beaz was less fair. But still true. Sundvold's major claim was that Beaz did some on court jawing with his teammates (true) and failed to bring his best game when on the road (XU, ND, TTech.) That Hansbrough brought it every night and that he did it on the road as well as home.
The best part is how in most threads on Peehog.net that involve UNC in general and Hansbrough in particular the phoggies just trash Hanborough. "He travels"!!!. "He gets all the calls"!!! "He flops"!!! But when it comes down to H'bro or Beaz, they speak of Hansbrough as though he were one of their own.
Pretty funny.
