You're giddy, it's rarified air for the bandwagon ku fans.

Damn straight I'm giddy as crap. I have never had much to chirp for when it came to ku football, but I've put my time in for a fan of a perennial whipping boy that I can relish this moment.

I still don't understand how K-state can smirk about soft-scheduling practices when they were the pioneers of this practice. It is the one thing that is admirable about Ron Prince. He is willing to put the season on the line to take the game TO a school like Auburn or schedule Louisville. If we had put SFU on the schedule this year rather than last year or next year we'd still be getting the bitching about a soft schedule. K-state played some real studs in the form of Missouri State and San Jose State.

fyi, our schedules aren't anywhere close.

if you go by the sagarin ratings (which are the GOLD STANDARD according to you guys)

we check in at 24, ku at 102.

And dax calling ku fans "bandwagon" is hilarious. What a bitter man
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I don't put a ton of stock into the Sagarin. I mean, yes, it is indicative of how easy it was for our offense to move the ball around on some bad teams, but it is only a small predictor. I don't think the strength of schedule says a lot about decent teams. I still don't know how I feel at this moment about the ku football team beyond that we are a serious top 25 team. Where we fall into that is not clear to me.

I'm still &@#%ing furious we don't use a god damn I formation.

And the fact that we're ahead of a team like LSU in the Sagarin ranking kind of bothers me. There is no off-week in SEC football.

Regardless, there is more parity in the Big 12, the North is catching up to the South after a lull a few years ago. I find the argument that ku isn't playing Texas, Tech, and OU not to be as persuasive when you take into account that only OU isn't looking like a real dog in that group. Texas isn't impressive at all and Tech still can't play defense.

Top to bottom over the next 3 to 4 years the Big 12 North will be as good (if not better) as the Big 12 South, and the entire conference will be getting better. I think Hawkins will finally get his system truly up and running in Boulder next year. Maybe Mizzou isn't just a one-year flash-in-the-pan, but it is pretty early to be saying that. I don't know where ku will even after next week. K-State is rebuilding itself into a balanced hard-nosed football team, and Bill Callahan will be out at NU next season. Really, Iowa State has potential to right the ship, but crap that's a nightmare.

I grew up in a quasi-split house. My step-father is K-State grad and my father is a ku grad; however, my dad was big into ku sports and ku in general, my stepfather just wasn't so much.

I consider myself a reasonable person. I root diehard for ku, but I'm not oblivious to the truth.

ku is easily a top 15 team, I still think that the big 12 has a bunch of solid teams but definately no great teams, OU would be the closest followed by mizzou, definately no title contenders.  Bradford has struggled some in big 12 play.

ku's best thing is that they do not make mistakes and are very mentally tough.  Their defense is winning games for them.  I think they'll struggle against mizzou and OSU.

I have nothing to disagree with this. I think Mizzou has a very potent offense with a still yet-to-be-defined defense. The loss of Pig isn't helpful for a team which prior to Nebraska wasn't looking so good on the defensive side. Oklahoma State is just odd from week to week. I'll be curious which team shows up for that game to be honest.

I'm just not sure why everyone thinks Mizzou is so great.  They were out-gained in total yards by a bad Iowa State team at home, and their best win is on a neutral field against Illinois.  Their Big 12 schedule has only featured one road game (OU) and they were beaten pretty badly in that 2nd half.  Kansas, in the mean time, has played three of its four conference games on the road (@KSU @CU @A&M) and has the best win of the two teams (@KSU #15 Sagarin).  Kansas has a better defense and a better running attack.

Mizzou is good, but I just don't see why everyone thinks they're significantly better than Kansas.  As for OSU, their defense doesn't really worry me.  Their offense can put up points, but I think Kansas' defense is up for the challenge.  One game at a time though, with Nebraska coming to Lawrence this week.

A lot of teams are getting better as the season goes on, including Kansas.  Iowa State is not a good football team.

I doubt you've really watched much Kansas football then.  Our offense was dominant yesterday, but Webb missed 2 field goals and had another one blocked.  McAnderson had over 180 rushing yards and 2 TD's as Kansas' offensive line just dominated the line of scrimmage.  The only game the offense didn't play that well was against Colorado, who beat Oklahoma on the same field.

The one really impressive thing to take away from the ku-CU game was the energy ku still had at the end of the game.

I was dismayed with the offensive play calling. I want us to have the spread formations available to us, but there are times when you should employ the I, pro-set, ANYTHING other than 5-wide when inside the opponents 5, 10, or 20.
