White headbands would have helped significantly. Like probably a 12 point advantage at least.

Meh. We gave up 86, and Freddy sucked at D.

We probably won't win many games giving up 85+.

He's like a driveway shooter that's black, and can't be worse than russell at d.

This.

K-State basketball starts with defense.  We allowed Miss to shoot 56% and their 2 guards scored 52 points.  We aren't going to beat people like that.  Especially when Dennis and Jake combine to shoot less than 35%, we hit 52% of our FTs, and hit only 23% from 3.

We had too many things go south tonight, but not all is lost.  We got beat by a good team, probably a tournament team, playing well.  Its clear that we aren't complete right now and Frank has a lot of work to do, but I have no doubt this team will get better, there's too much talent there.

We have another chance at a likely tournament team Sunday night.  All is not lost, manage a win against Dayton and a 2-1 trip to Rico and I can live with it.  Not completely what we wanted, but okay to come home with.

If we would have been atleast decent from the ft line, then we would have been in the game in the end imo. We still probably wouldn't have won, but if we made our ft's, the game would have been within our reach towards the end.

How did we get stuck playing a half court game?  That's bullsh*t, man.

The announcers didn't mention our atrocious free throw shooting until about halfway through the 2nd half.  I was like, "Holy crap, dudes - how can you not be shocked at how horribly we're shooting it from the line?!"  Must have been...what...7 or 8 for 20 at one point?  Wow.

yeah, match their ft%, and it's a 4 point game (which is a completely different game in the last 2 minutes).

but we didn't, so it wasn't

Not enough energy on defense.  We never got steals that led to points.

I checked at one point when we were still in the game in the second half and we were at 32%. Our number 1 problem is free throws, it's always been a problem for Martin's team. You simply cannot shoot 50% from the line and expect to beat good teams. They will just hack the sh1t out of you because you won't make them pay for it.

last year we were all saying the same things after Kentucky beat us.  Said they were a good team a tourney team and we could live with beating Iowa and going home 1-1.  Didn't really work out for us against Iowa and both Kentucky and Iowa ended up sucking.  We pretty much put ourselves in a position right off the bat where we had to win about 11 conference games just to make the tourney.

Dayton is a better basketball team then Ole Miss.  I'd be happy going hoome 2-1 but it's not likely that it will happen given how poorly we are playing.   I don't agree with the system but these kind of games are more important to making the tourney then conference games are.   I mean you have to go 500 or better in conference but we know from experience they will take a team with a worse conference record that won a couple of these type of games in the non con.  We really don't have many chances for quality non wins after this tournament.

Ole Miss is better than uk/Iowa.  So is Dayton.  And I don't think anyone thought we were a tourney team until we beat texas.

defense sucked.  bigs were soft and weak.  rebounded poorly.  sutton didn't get enough minutes.

shooting better would have helped.  brown would have helped.  playing the freshmen less would have helped.  but, meh.  the team is just not very good now.  they'll probably be ok in january.  seems to be the pattern.

+1

I was hoping this year would be different but it already looks like we'll be in the same f'n boat. If we lose to Dayton it doesn't look good and I think Dayton is at least as good as Ole Miss.

Clemente still needs to learn to be a point guard and not a shoot first guy.  I love the guy when he is on but we have other options now and he needs to get them the ball.  There is no reason Kelly or Samuals should not touch the ball 90% of the possessions on the block.

We also try to block to many shots, which is great if we get the block but if Jordon stays on his feet and not jump he can be just as effective at altering shots and be in position to rebound on a miss right now he and Kelly are flying all over the place trying to block shots and nobody is there an they get an easy put back I saw that at least 3 or 4 times against Ole Miss.

I actually liked out offense,  we ran the offense and found some easy baskets out of it which was better than early last year, and our bigs are good interior passers which I like.

Other than the free throws and their two guards being unconscious we didn't look all that bad.

OT did anyone else think the white looked like Bill Walker?
