1.  Julian Wright cut ku from his list before having a change of heart and committing to Self after an in-home visit.  Rush never listed ku until the last minute.  The Morris twins popped up out of nowhere last year after decommitting from Memphis.  Tyshawn Taylor fell into our lap after decommitting from Marquette.  It's way too early to start acting like some of these '09 recruits are unavailable.

2.  ku will not have any seniors on next year's team.  There really isn't a need at any position.  ku can afford to be picky in this year's class.  We're in the mix with a lot of top prospects, and we're going to wait until their recruitment plays out.  Official visits won't even start until early October.

3.  Self just signed the #2 overall recruiting class in the country according to Rivals.  That class includes six 4-star recruits and another Rivals top 150.  Say what you want, but that's pretty damn good.  Next year's roster will include two McDonald's All-Americans, two of the top 3 Juco prospects in the country, and a batch of 4-star talent.

Carry on.

See now you have just made everyone's point if you are going to say that about basketball recruiting classes then how is it not true about football classes?

    The very best.
ku's 2009 class is looking eerily similar to their disastrous 08 class.

Meanwhile, Wally Judge looks to crack the top 10 soon.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

only reason you have the morris twins is because they didn't have the balls to compete for PT @ memphis. said they knew they would have an easier time seeing the court at ku. but wait...hmmm...that's interesting, considering you already have a "mcdonalds all-american" on the squad at their position.

ku's '08 recruiting class was ranked #2 in the country by Rivals.  Not sure how that's a disaster, fatty.  Even if ku doesn't sign a single recruit for '09, this is our lineup (assuming no one transfers or goes pro):

PG: Sherron Collins (5-star, McDonald's AA)
SG: Travis Releford (4-star, MVP of Derby Classic, member of USA U18 team)
SF: Mario Little (4-star, #1 Juco recruit)
PF: Marcus Morris (4-star, top 30 recruit)
C: Cole Aldrich (4-star, McDonald's AA)

Bench:

PG: Tyrone Appleton (4-star, #3 Juco recruit)
PG: Tyrel Reed (RSCI top 60)
SG: Tyshawn Taylor (4-star, top 75 recruit)
SG: Brady Morningstar (4-star according to Scout, ku legacy)
PF: Quintrell Thomas (4-star, top 100 according to Scout, 3-star, top 150 according to Rivals)
C: Markieff Morris (4-star, top 50 recruit)

Throw in a guy like Xavier Henry and that team's a national title contender.

Of the class coming in next season, I can't believe I'm not hearing more about Appleton. To be honest, I really like the kid and think he has a shot at being a solid point guard or even combo guard with his size. The other guy is Quintrell Thomas. He's one of those guys if you give him 4 years to polish his game could be a great role player...maybe turn into a Darnell Jackson.
Hate to break it to you though- not sold on Releford. He'll prolly stay as a starter most of the year because he's really the only true 2 guard, but I mean, if he was so good, why was he not DOMINATING the EKL in high school (not known for its basketball). Not saying that putting in 20 a night is bad, but I rarely heard about him flat out dominating competition. Reminds me a lot of another Miege star- Issac Miles. Big time hype when he signed with Creighton...now he's resorted to Murray State. Releford should be better, and will, but I hope you aren't banking too much into him becoming a star.

I think the thing about Releford is that he plays up to his competition.  He just made the USA U18 National team so he's doing something right.  Self said that Releford is already a college-level defender.  In the Kentucky Derby Classic, Releford put up 20+ points and was game MVP.  He also put up 28 at an adidas elite camp against Jrue Holiday.  I'm not expecting him to be a star from day one, but I think he'll develop into a Keith Langford-type of player by the time he get some experience.

edit:  power4PURPLE, just found out that Wall's new top 3 are Kentucky, Kansas, and Memphis.  Not sure what ku's chances are but it sounds like we're making a late push.  http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/seth_davis/07/11/hoop.thoughts/2.html

KSUfans isn't going anywhere. Unfortunately for you, ku fan, you are forced to post on a garbage scout site where 50% of your posts get deleted.

Enjoy "life" loser.

Weren't there like 4 McDAA's on the roster last year? Since two are returning, that means 0 McD's in this class.

If that's reloading for an elite program/NC, I'd choose a dagger.

Still can't believe with all of those schollies avail that Self couldn't land one :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:.  Then again, he prolly didn't want another 1ndun guy...

Ummm... yeah.  Next year's roster will include two McDonald's All-Americans.  The '08 recruiting class was ranked #2 in the country by Rivals, but what would they know?

Solid Benesque reply...the phog.net group ranks them 10 spots lower, guess they're idiots over there.
