OMG, that picture is freaking awesome.

A microcosm of K-State's "relationship" with Texas.

My first thought as well.  When it happened all I could say was... "that dude just got bitch-slapped on national tv.

Isn't that technically a stiffarm?  He's on the mask, but I don't see gripping.

You are correct sir.

I think the rule reads like this:

"It is permissible for an offensive player to touch the facemask of a defensive player while utilizing a "stiff-arm technique", unless of course, the offensive player is on the visiting team in an $EC stadium.  ESPECIALLY if the visiting team is from a conference not affiliated with the $EC, in which case the team will be flagged for a 15 yard, flagrant facemasking penalty."

Anyone have the pic of the penalty for comparison.  I'm interested in learning what constitutes a personal foul and what doesn't.  I guess Prince knows since there was no penalty.

Although it does appear that Jordy's fingers are slightly curled, I've NEVER before seen this called offensive facemasking...

I mean, seriously, why the hell would an offensive player be trying to pull a defensive player towards him?!?!?

Do you have the non-call on the player that had ahold of McKinny's facemask while Mckinny had his shoulder pads & McKinney gets the facemask? TIA

How about the one earlier in the Auburn game where we took off a helmet and got away with it?

After reviewing the pics, it's clear that the penalty occurs when the offensive player places their fingers in the lower portion of the mask as it appears ok to grab/push against the upper or entire mask.  I guess grabbing the lower portion leads to significant injury, while the upper region just makes the defender look lame.

Must be a leverage thing.

Grabbing the back of the helmet (underneath) is not a penalty, so we didn't "get away" with anything.

And the quote from Ron Franklin?  Something to the effect of, "how can a former walkon safety run with the ball so well?"

The very loud orange-clad people surrounding me disagreed.  :D

I'm not quite sure where you are getting this information, but it's blatantly incorrect.

A defensive player, or an offensive player, cannot grab an opponents helmet in any way, shape, or form.  Whether you grab the facemask, the earhole, or the back of the helmet, it's a penalty.  Additionally, it's often called "facemasking" when one grabs the earhole or back of the helmet simply because there is no "hand signal" for grabbing another part of the headgear.

NO charge, since you drink white wine...

The middle of mask was grabbed, not the bottom.

I think that was just his politically correct way of saying how can a white boy from Riley Kansas run with the ball so well.
