Did he really end up with the fastest 40 on timing day?

The Chiefs will need him after they cut ties with Dante Hall on June 1.

the article this weekend about the chiefs thinkng wr isn't an urgent need confused me.  the only silver lining i found is the hope that they're planning to snag yamon in the third/fourth.

Herm is convinced that Jeff Webb and Chris Hannon can be
No. 2 and No. 3 receivers behind Kennison. And so when
blitz-happy teams like S.D. bring the house and get
to Huard in 3 seconds, and KC's shoddy WR's can't break
press coverage and get separation, there's gonna be a lot of
hits, a lot of fumbles ... and a lot of deadpan Herm faces on
the sideline.

9-7, here we come.

i don't know what bothers me more, the part about webb and hannon (wtf?) or the part about kennison (wtf?!?!11?).

if we spent 3 of the first five picks on wrs, we could lose all three without missing a beat at all.

KC will have the worst WR's in the league, hands-down. San Diego
is a real close second, though. The Hannon/Webb experiment just
reeks of 2004, when Vermeil was obsessed with Richard Smith, a
rookie free agent at the time. He had everyone believing Smith
would be a 60-catch, 800 yard receiver. Turns out, he was off the
team by midseason.

This could end up being worse than the Marc Boerigter Project.

he might be an upgrade over some of the existing talent.

Nah man ... o-line is definitely first.

Trust me on that one.

I could at least understand the Bo project.  He was good for 8 TD and a 21 ypc average in 02 on 20+ catches.

But in the end Bo wrecked his knee.  Would have been a good 3rd WR.

The Chiefs have GOT to get the defense straight because in no time the offense is going to consist of Tony, LJ and five bad linemen.  The Chiefs either have to hope the OT Brown falls to them or they need to take a DT or CB.  WR can wait another year or maybe get someone in the second round.  The way WRs have been falling I wouldn't be surprised if Sidney Rice were still available mid-second.

The D they have right now is easily Top-10 next year. Don't underestimate the signings of Donnie Edwards and Napolean Harris. Both are upgrades from last year.

DT is a position of need, but if KC can swing a deal with Miami (trading Green for a middle-round pick), it wouldn't surprise me if they sent it to Carolina for Kris Jenkins. John Fox has been trying to move Jenkins all offseason, and the Panthers might even cut him on June 1. Jenkins and some combo of James Reed/RD 2 draft pick is doable.

IDK, the draft should be interesting. But it's pretty obvious the tables have turned since Vermeil left. KC's strength (and youth) is now in its defense. The offense is ancient and has to get younger ... now.

the chiefs have nothing at dt, and are very risky at corner.

i can't imagine herm letting that go unadressed in the draft, unless he's absolutely confident cp is going to make fa moves to address.  and that's hard to imagine.

That's what we said about Vonnie Holliday, Shawn Barber, and Kendrell Bell, among others, I'll believe it when I see it.

If you're comparing Donnie Edwards with Barber or Bell, let's just end the thread now.

As for Harris, he's not being asked to switch positions like Bell was.
Bell played MLB with Pitt prior to coming to KC and was forced to the
outside. The Chiefs never really found a use for him, though I'm not
sure if that will finally change. Maybe he'll get cut June 1, IDK.

This I do know: Greg Wesley will be searching for a new team real soon.
