Callahan has lots of good linebackers and few d-linemen, so he is just adjusting to his strengths.

clearly you're mistaken.  i have it on VERY good authority that the cornhuskers are loaded on dl, and will be among the nations best dls in 2008.

The OL and DL should be among the best in the country in 2008 so that gives Nebraska something to build around.

 :D

I must admit I don't know who Maxell is. However, he's partly mistaken: we have A great d-linemAn (singular, not plural), and some filler. Hopefully the d-line will be better by fall because right now it is pretty rough.

The O-line should* be good, barring injuries.

Count yourself as one of the lucky ones.  He is a gem to say the least.

College offenses are evolving into spreads, The more athletes on the field the better.

That too is a big part of it. We have been recruiting cornerbacks like crazy lately--far more than we need to fill the hole we have there.

I saw a stat where last year only like 1% of the offensive plays used a two-back set. I don't know if it was correct, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Pretty much all the south teams run a ton of 1 back or 1 back exclusively.  In the north, ISU ran a lot of SHotgun with Meyer, the type of qb's hawkins is recruiting leads me to believe that he will air it out more, ku has gone spread, mizzou, as well, and NU has the capability even though they ran the ball a ton last year.

Look for NU to largely abandon the run again this year, ala 2005. Lucky is good, but I don't think Callahan would risk as many running plays on him since he is our lone running back right now (Glenn and Wilson are injured). Our strength is in our wide receivers supposedly. (To be honest though, it seems like we just have a bunch of possession guys and no home-run threats right now. We don't have a threatening tight-end either. Whatever.)

People making fun of KSU for recruiting small fast guys last year killed me.  Our secondary is pretty much set with the ammount of guys we have recruited back there the last 2 years.

I thought Prince did fine recruiting. He filled his needs, which is the most important thing, and he pulled in some real playmakers too. Considering that some of your best players are walk-ons (Campbell, Watts, etc), I'm going to go out on a limb and say Rivals isn't everything.

Notre Dame and Alabama are switching to the 3-4 as well?  It was on the 8 am sportscenter, I figure you all are still sleeping, or commuting.  And apparently Campbell and Jackson's position, OLB/DE is known as the "jack" position in the NFL.  As in, Ian's gonna jack up some QB's this season!

I'm surprised Notre Dame didn't switch to the 3-4 as soon as Charlie Weis took over, since he was around that system with the Patriots under Belichick.
