there were breakdowns, they got like 20 fast break points, they hit 9 3 pointers.  That is a recipe for a poor defensive night.

Everything keyed off Hannah.  He shredded us and scored all night long in the lane, not to mention that he was on fire from 3pt range.  When he wasn't scoring he was passing to wide open kick-outs.

If this happens against Augustine and UT, we're dead!

at least 9 of hannah's points were prayers.

Hannah and Keon Lawrence were really good last night.  Those two combined to go 17-26 (65%!) and Hannah was 6-8 from 3 while the rest of the team was 3-14 (21%).  Both were able to use their quickness to get into the lane off the dribble and both made some tough shots in there.  Anderson did a great job of clearing things out and allowing those 2 to get lanes to the basket off the dribble and we had trouble stopping them.

To add on, there was one area here where Anderson really did a good job of breaking down how Huggins' defends ball screens.  Our bigs just try to be physical and force the screener out instead of hedging as koug and I discussed earlier in the weak.  The thought behind it seems to be more often than not you'll reroute the ball enough to recover and even if you get beat you'll have help in the lane.  Against MU this breaks down some b/c you have to guard MU's shooters (namely Matt Lawrence and Horton to a lesser extent) AND MU did a good job of clearing out one side of the floor so help couldn't come.  Then it seemed with both Hannah and Lawrence even when help got there they were able to make really tough shots in the paint at the bucket.  Finally, we had a couple breakdowns leading to a few wide open looks from 3 when we rotated wrong and another time we completely lost an MU player leading to an open dunk.

MU's halfcourt O was good last night, and when Hannah is that on he's able to set up others b/c he puts so much pressure on the defense.  Overall, not really a poor effort on our part as much as it was a great game by MU on the offensive end IMO.

There was that one time when Mizzou had the ball on the wing and every player in a white jersey made a mad dash to the other side of the floor.  Easiset dunk from a half-court set, ever.

How many "teardrops" fell for Hannah?

I was in awe of some of the stuff he got to go in.

While his outside game was obviously on last night, I was more impressed by the touch and finesse he showed in the paint.  There were 3-4 times where he scored over our bigs..those floaters found nothing but net.

Hannah was great last night. But KSU found a way to win in the last 4 minutes. Thank goodness for the bootcamp mentality in the gym. They had what it took and the other guys didn't and that was the difference! IMHO

Yep.  I attended last night.  Stood in the student section with two MIZZOU fans.*  About the 6:30 mark in the 2nd half, we all commented how the Tigers had lost their legs.  Jump shots coming up short, free throws (all arms, wrists and hands) clanking off the rim.

*Appreciated how the students focused their attention toward the floor rather than attacking the visitors in the crowd.  Class.

It looked like Hannah was able to come off screens so that he was driving directly towards the basket or just slightly off (i.e. a good angle).  In Columbia, I think he was coming off the screens (or the screens were set) a little to wide and it made the angles more difficult for him.  I think our defense tries to bump the screener up a bit and make dribbler flatten out his angle to the basket.

*cough cough* should have hedged ball screens *cough*

Hannah and Keon Lawrence were really good last night.

Yep and they threw up a bunch of prayers that were answered.  Just one of those nights and nothing to lose much sleep over IMHO.  Huggs will fix the ball screen defense issues quickly as they were glaringly obvious.

I can't wait to watch Huggins' defense once he has players who can execute everything he wants to do.  He keeps hinting at it in his postgame and coaches' shows...

Definitely not one of our best performances, giving up 73 points, but we made the stops when we absolutely had to.
