Was the speaker at the KC Catbackers last night. Anyone attend?? If so any news??
-
Stan said his odds on favorite for QB is Collin Klein. He dismissed the thought of Harper and Lemur, but thought that Cosh is a dark horse. He doesn't think that they should spend another scholarship on a QB, since they are already heavily invested.

Loves Tate.
Pete verbally harassed Stan to the point of tears, made him admit that there was no god and jesus was just a man who liked wine and prostitutes. Pete then spiked an empty can of Coors banquet beer off of Lon's head, tipped over the buffet table onto Babs and stormed out the back door. Pretty tame Catbackers gathering if you ask me. :blahblah:

Hmmm... Klein at QB, DT at TB, Harper and S. Lamur in slots, and LB and B. Smith at WR.
4 of the 6 being at least a slight threat to throw the ball...
Could be dynamic.

More likely a complete cluster f^ck though. If Harper isn't behind center or we don't recruit another QB I'm prolly not going to be happy. Being able to throw the ball isn't very high on my list of desireable WR skills.

Please, please, please let someone get through to Lamark that he can't catch and he needs to move to defense. If he wants to play for money, he's going to do it on defense. He was our fifth-leading receiver this year, and with our new additions next year he probably won't even see the field.
He's got all off-season now to work on a new position. Someone, PLEASE, get this through to him. I've been saying this forever, and I'm losing hope it will ever work...

it's not really lamark's fault. he didn't really have many drops at all. grant looked for banks the entire year. if snyds makes an effort to get him the ball in a position to get up the field instead of throwing sideline routes, he could be useful. I mean, jfc, throw that guy a screen once a game.

NO. Why do people continue to think this guy will be a good receiver? He's never shown anything. At all. He drops balls and doesn't get open.

I'll play devils advocate for a second . . . I brought this up earlier in the year and was promptly shouted down by you youngsters. I'll say it again . . . OB always sides towards the upper classman at QB even if they may not be the best option. I recall saying several times at the beginning of the year that surely either Kass or Klein couldn't be any worse than Coffman or Gregory (this was post ULM when Gregory's 4 or 5 passes were the worst in college football history).
Now, I know everyone is going to hammer all over me for this, but lets be honest. Klein's one pass in the NU game was pretty much a better ball than any Gregory threw all night. Now, I ain't saying Klein is the second f'ing coming of Charlie Ward or Vince Young . . . what I am saying is that I think the kid has some skills as a QB and he's clearly a better athlete than somebody like Carson Coffman ever dreamed of being.
(Disclaimer: This has nothing to do with the need to recruit a JC QB, all's I am saying is that a Klein scenario isn't worth melting down over just yet IMO) :ksu: :kstatriot: :steadymobbin': :ksu: :kstatriot: :steadymobbin': :KSUFansAppv: :powertard:

Stan hasn't seen a KSU game since '89, he's trying his best.

The thoughts on Lamark are understandable, but the way we moved guys around this year, if Lamark hasn't become a defensive player by now he's not likely going to be one next year. I don't think he has the mentality to be a defensive player and if he did he would get lambasted here more than he does at WR. And that's if he even got a chance to see the field on defense.

Several posts in this thread are why ksufans.com is known as the "dumb K-State board" (their words not mine) by Loyola-Chicago and Tennessee Tech fans.

this. however many catches lamark had, add about 5 to that and that's probably the total balls that were thrown his way. the time to move him has come and passed, it's now time to think about utilizing him.
-
Yes Lamark looked positively $hitty against ISU and catching that TD pass against ku.
My only problem with Lamark was his pansy fumble recovery effort at Cornhole.
-
Klein did really well in my NCAA 10 dynasty. He improved tremendously over the offseason and became a Heismas candidate.

can't wait to see what they do with DT. Remember back in the day EA or Sony would rank us decent, but our Juco's sucked. Then the next year they were basically all world. Anyone feel that with DT? (of course speed kills in those games and he's fracked in that category)
As for Brown, i wouldn't have wanted our QB's throwing to the backside routes with those rag arms. And Brown has zero WR intangibles. He can't get open when the pocket breaks down, the only reason he was open against ISU was because the dude fell down, and against ku they were basically ignoring him (who wouldn't though).
-
Someone please hold me back from going on a rampage...
I've let a few things slip already, but I'm moving from friendly message board poster to the destroy at all costs level.

Maybe more balls weren't thown to Lamark because he doesn't have the ability to get open? May just be LFBIQ on my part.

Did Kassanavoid quit?

Agree, as wiley mentioned, the reason he got open against ISU was the DB actually fell down.
I looked up for the past 10 years how some of our fifth-leading receivers in the past improved as seniors. Not much. We're talking about Ernie Pierce, Daniel Gonzalez and Derrick Evans types here. If Lamark at all wants to play on Sundays, for his own good, he will beg the coaches to let him try to switch to defense.
-
Did Kassanavoid quit?
He was on the last depth chart, at DE, so I don't think so. I certainly hope Kass is still around -- he seems like a very good player to have on the field somewhere. He'll help the team.

Harold was also on the depth chart and he definately quit. I hope Harold and Kass both come back.

Klein it is!
Let's go ahead and shut 'er (recruiting) down, OB.

did you watch our receivers and the routes they ran? lamark was basically running fly routes on every play while banks and or snipes were running underneath routes. When we actually decided to throw to lamark in routes that were similar to the ones that banks runs, we marched down the field against ku and scored. how "open" do you need to get on a WR screen? I thought snyds and/or gregory, for whatever reasons, focused on getting it to banks. if it's because lamark can't catch in practice, fine, but he certainly didn't show that he couldn't when we threw it to him.
also, for the record, I was on the "lamark to defense" bandwagon the moment he stepped on campus. but that ship has sailed.
-
deficiencies in our QB's led to a lot of issues with Lamark as well as him just not being a fundamentally sound WR. When we moved him to the right side of the formation and he had 1on1 coverage, he was tough to stop (see ku). But the guy doesn't finish routes, looks lost when he breaks a route to help the QB who's running for his life. Doesn't use his body to keep defenders away from the ball. Guy needs to make some serious strides. He had to run a fly route because he slowed down so much when he made a cut, you are supposed to gain separation on a cut, not lose it.
-
Lamark's not moving to defense. For one thing he's a senior and he would just go over there and be a back up to some slow midget like Hrebec. For another he's pretty much the only experienced WR that we have coming back.
Maybe the guy would have made a good LB maybe he wouldn't have. More then likely he's just not as good at football as people thought he was. He's a decent receiver that can present match up problems at times. He's not a game changer or anything but he'll make some plays. Part of the deal I think people are missing is that at one point he quit the team and then later came back. Once you do that coaches tend not to make you as big a part of the game plan at least for a little while until you regain some trust.

Yeah, not getting open didn't seem to prevent us from throwing it to Banks when he was covered. And I don't remember Banks EVER catching a ball where he was covered.

I don't know. He was open on the big ISU touchdown. However, it was underthrown and allowed the coverage back in the play.
Just sayin'....

This is a quick stop for vk.

I bet with all the job movements in the off season, he'll find work quick.

Loves what Koening has done for defense. Vic's family didn't move to Manhattan, so what he does next year is unknown. Finances seem to dictate that he must find another job in the South Carolina/North Carolina area or stay put. Misses his kids.
Many people believe/have heard he will not be back. The financial issue is that he cannot sell his house back in S.C. K-State pays him well.
he was responding to a rumor. Doesn't know anything, but laid out Vic's problem. Wife won't move to Manhattan, didn't move to Clemson either, but lives in S. Carolina/N. Carolina area.
Vic is supporting 2 homes (Clemson & wife's) plus renting here. Tough to do on coach's salary so decision must be made. He must secure a job in wife's area, or back to Clemson area, OR make a committment to stay (sell the Clemson house and say goodbye to wife). Lots of pressure on him.
-
vic sounds like a gigantic loser.

The Clemson area is a tough housing market right now . . . my in-laws had a beautiful home in that area that they basically had to give away to get it sold.

I'm sure it is. I just wish for once the dead weight working for OB would be stuck in these absurd predicaments.
Not that I would expect anything different. Snyder's inability to retain the top assistants on his staff is par for the course. It is just like old times around here.

Well he talked a lot about HIS playing days and how it was to put on the purple in front of the fans and all his great relationships with the players. Then he talked about growing up in small town Kansas and getting to play in some of the great stadiums. Then he talked of QBing days and how much work he put in and how great it was and ....and ....seriously Stan does a great job.
I'll say this he married a hot cheerleader...the Kappa house had about 4 on the cheerleading squad all quality squid...Nancy his wife, Jane and Joan and another slipping my mind.
Has a boy playing on the Miege team...BTW the McCay kid is the real deal...
