Good decision not posting a youtube. Screw these losers.

Seems like the non-elite music thread got deleted? Dunno I can't find it anymore.
This could become the new thread for music. Other thread was basically an old-school music thread anyway
Let me start vid posting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H25lz7gchaw

Nuthin' But A G Thang- Dr. Dre
everyone knows the lyrics...

Thinking more of a non rap thread. Was actually thinking alternative/grunge but Hemmy added the blue song and I would never kick that song off any list.
Here you go SD, sorry.

"best" is a pretty subjective term but my interpretation has always been that the song has changed music or established a trend or broken barriers.
In the 90's rock category, it would be hard to ignore the work of Metallica's Self Titled "Black" Album
Enter Sandman
Nothing Else Matters
Sad But True
Unforgiven
Wherever I May Roam

1979 Smashing Pumpkins
Billy Corgan is one weird dude but damn he's good.

I agree 100% with Bookcat about the 'tallica songs, but gf we're talking 90's alternative pop rock (best era of music ever, IMO) then I'd say:
Gin Blossoms - Hey Jealousy
-
Another good Pumpkins one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQSxwzOngMU&NR=1
cool vid too

Sorry it's just that i've been using my neighbors internet this summer. It's a weak signal so my internet crashes every 5 minutes or so and I can't get it back for hours sometimes. So going to Youtube to find links is low priority.

The fact that it was ripped off a Stones song defaces it's value a bit, but still a great song
-
Bittersweet Symphony is retardedly repetitive and has always sucked. But "The Freshmen," by The Verve PIPE, is a tear-jerker that will shake you to your very core.
Bittersweet Symphony sucks.

they are actually really cool dudes. I met them at spring break in Padre and went back to their suite and partied with them. incredible the amount and quality of ass they were pulling. i ended up waking up in my hotel room with my pants down, unconfirmed reports stated I left the suite with some hot chick.

I have a similar story from partying with the cast of the Geico Cavemen sitcom.

Pretty sure that song needs to be moved to the thread RE: homosexuals.

As far as good 90's songs go, I kinda liked that "Black" song by Pearl Jam. That was before they got all political and turned into a bunch of Buzz Killingtons.

Still love Live, but I really don't like that song, or most of their softer stuff for that matter. Maybe I don't care for that particular song cause it was overplayed SO much.

Probably greatest one hit wonder ever IMO, but I guess that is for another thread.
hah. Verve Pipe had a single called, Photograph (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_PQj6EDWhA"), that was HUGE around here (Manhattan area) thanks to the LAZER back in the day. Verve Pipe released Freshman six months later and nobody put two and two together, I suppose because it was a pretty different sound. Of course, a lot of people were pissed when they found out they were some kind of industrial rock band fronting the only 'soft' song as their single. Compare that to goo goo dolls album where everyone thought it was some pop album from the first single and it turned out it was 90% punk. LOL
Photograph came out about the same time as Spiderwebs (No Doubt) because I remember playing both those cds non-stop in my truck crusin' main in big ol' wamego.
Either way, I got pretty mad that they re-recorded "The Freshman" to be more 'soft' and less guitar, which is almost opposite to evanescence when they re-recorded "My Immortal" to add guitars so their pussies weren't hurt during each concert when they got no attention from the crowd.

I saw both goo goo dolls and No Doubt in concert back in the day (trust me, I only did too get a little tail) and the goo goo dolls were &@#%ing horrible. Not only did their music suck my left testicle, but their horrible musical abilities sucked my right testicle. At least my balls got some play that night. (I was still in high school) No Doubt on the other hand was pretty god damn sweet, and that was back when the played a ton of ska type stuff, not really my favorite type of jams.

ridiculous how good the music selection was then.
was the beginning of many new sounds hardcore rap, ska, grunge, "alternative", macarena ayyy.
whats that you want a soft and sultry chorus line with some hardcore rap ok heres bone thugs n harmony featuring boyz II men.
oh ok you want a white guy singing rap over a Queen sample done.
not into that you want smelly grunge heres nirvana also all other smelly bands apply within this genre
how about a hott chick singing some ska music jumping around acting all cute and such mm yeah we can give you that.
what you need a little twang in your thang how about some dream walkin hear you talkin or I could give you some achy breaky heart but I just don't think you'd understand.
oh ok you just want an alternative sound ok done x 1billion best decade ever for that.
don't even get me started on awesome techno dancing songs or Pump Up the Volume great sports crowd motivation songs
you want one hit wonders I'll show you a one hit wonder.
seriously just thinking about it gets me carried away.
