Title: Members of a religion other than Christianity?
Post by: Saulbadguy on July 20, 2009, 07:45:25 AM

Ever have to go to Church with a friend or w/e, and feel elite when you were the only one in the building that didn't take communion?

Ever the only one in a group that didn't recite the "Our father for art thou in heaven" thing?

Ever celebrate Christmas but w/o the whole birth of Christ theme goin on?

 8-)

almost every christian does this.  Not a point of differentiation.

Oh, in church, or outside of church, sometimes people like to pray.  For whatever, ya know? They say be silent, and keep your prayers to yourself, and everyone leans their head down, sometimes close their eyes, and pray.  I usually pray for a million dollars when this is going on.

99% of christians also do this.  Again not a point of differentiation.  I think you may actually be christian.

Saul, you should say something about turning your nose up at bacon eaters imo.  Almost all christians eat bacon in my experience.  Good point of differentiation.  Also mowing the lawn on saturday/sunday (don't remember the bad one).  They do that a lot.  Good difference there.

Getting pissed at "The Church Crowd" when you are trying to go out to eat on a Sunday at noon.

Another PITA - the fact that you have to be reminded that Christmas is coming 24/7, for 2 months.  GMAFB people!  I know others complain about this but they aren't serious, they love the crappy music, commercials, and general lameness surrounding the event.

question:  Do jews celebrate Easter?  Like, do they drive by churches and yell "in your face!" or something?

Which, as you can imagine, ticked some of the rabbis off.  But they got over it...after they killed him.

Saul, ever hit the annual Blintz Brunch in T-town?  I used to go every year as a kid.  You go to Beth Shalom?

Mom would drag me to church for Easter and Christmas, which was fair since I had no problem accepting gifts/candy on those days. Would stand up for songs, but never sing along. It's kinda funny to go along and laugh to myself.

I have some stepgrandparents who are uber Christians. Went to church with them on Christmas Eve one year, and it was one of those churches wear they get all into it and raise their hands in the air and stuff. They had several pastors or w/e you guys call em with mics, and after the service they were all 'Anyone who would like to change their life by accepting jesus blah blah blah" and a couple dudes went up there to be brainwashed or w/e. Very comical and very creepy.

LOL, ya that's what he meant.

Why is religious song used at all?  How about America the Beautiful?  Sure, it says "God," but it isn't overtly religious...and what little there is is non-partisan.   After all, fighting for this country isn't fighting for God.  It's a nationalist thing, not a religious thing.

why don't they play take me out to the ball game instead of amazing grace or america the beautiful?  would be just as appropriate, but I would know all the words.

Eh, if you're agnostic, you may as well just pick a side.

I jumped off of the 'God' bandwagon about ten years ago.  Haven't been hit by lightning yet.  :hope:
