Awaji>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Merriewhether
-
Why don't you marry him then? :nahnah:
-
Buchi looks the part. Very sleek.
-
he moves quicker, sharper than anyone else.
hes a crossover away from getting a wallpaper.
anyhow. f'n play his ass. christ.
-
Awaji>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Merriewhether
Hell yes, the dude can shoot that makes him 1,000,000,000x better than Fairywhether.

Awaji should definitely play more than Merriwhether. Maybe even twice as much.
I'm thinking Buchi gets a minute and CMer gets 30 seconds.
-
Whenever Merrie. picks up a foul (obviously like his first or second) I always ask if that is his fifth. I can't stand him on the basketball court. Solid human I'm sure but he needs to GTFO of my face when on the basketball court.
-
Not really a fan of his "jump shot." Or lack there of since he doesn't even get off of the ground.

Which is odd, cause the dude can flat out sky.

Bill Walker has a similar shot.

Pretty sure he had 4 fouls against Mizzou. :dunno:

buchi is turning into the tysyn hartman of bball.

True. Doing better than everyone who is sucking around you does not make you good.
-
buchi is not good. have you seen him try to dribble? that he's getting minutes at all is a testament to martin's coaching em up.

In terms that he doesn't jump really high when he shoots it.

And sh*tty 2008 recruiting. :frown:
-
Buchi last 3 games.
9-15 from the Floor (60%), 4-7 from 3 (57%)
-
just imagine if he played more. got more comfortable.
-
Hey, why have a good shooter on the floor when the rest of the team is shooting 30%??
-
I think there is also a lot to say about a guy who hasn't gotten minutes all season and defenses have had little to no tape on. Think Maybank @ku. When you get a team that has spent 2-4 days training themselves to guard 1, 21, and 0 on the perimeter and then 25 steps on the floor everyone goes, who the hell is 25?
I was watching the isu game on a small crapty bar tv. I had no idea who 25 was when he started shooting it until they zoomed in. For a second I thought it was dom. I'll be impressed if he can keep it up and if he stays on the team.

needs to box out.
While the blocked shot WAS sweet, had butch boxed out that ball he pinned against the backboard wouldn't have been needed.
He was very good tonight. Knew Butch could jump, but that dunk was very powerful.

buchi looks like a guy that hasn't played very much d1 ball.

It's interesting Awaji was in the game at that time. As well as he played, I don't think he's were Sutton is defensively yet. With the corn inbounding from the baseline, Suttton could have came in. Given the failed box out and other second shot opportunities we gave up late, I'm surprised Frank didn't make the change.

sutton had fouled out.
-
That explains it. I guess I should have listened to Dave and John.
-
Doesn't matter, it was the right move either way.

JMart agrees:
Buchi love (http://www.kansascity.com/sports/story/1060778.html)
-
How long till he is starting?
Clemente
Pullen
Awaji
Kent
Colon
Actually, with Fred Brown being MIA lately, Buchi is a nice addition to come off the bench. However, if he keeps playing he is going to be better than Sutton.
-
He won't start this year, unless an injury, suspension etc occurs.
-
Had to be some extra salt in Doc's wound to have Buchi, who was nearly a Husker, come off the end of the bench and have the game of his career to beat NU last night. Frank won this game back in April.

True, superior athletes can win games on their own.

IIRC, there was a report where NU actually denied offering him...even before he committed to KSU. Kind of funny.
-
He get's a  on his name alone.

sadler got eshaunte jones instead. sadler won that round.

umm..Awaji was seeing more playing time because NU was giving Sutton the Whisky treatment and basically flipping him (and any other ksu "big") the middle finger once they stepped 15ft and out, just beggin those dipsh#ts to shoot it (samuels was a mason). I like Sutton at the 4 and kent at the 5, with Clemente, Pullen, Brown/Awaji filling out the rest of the lineup. we should start that way from the tip againt OSU.
-
Naw rather keep him as a 6th man, you know a spark plug to fuel the team to more victories.
-
Everyone is talking about how he is emerging offensively, but the guy is one of the best athletes on the floor at any given time, hopefully he can be used as a lockdown defender who has the ability to score, but isn't looked at a go to guy. Also, Watching him pin the ball on the back board at the end of the game was the nicest defensive play I've seen from us in a while
-

you need to watch more bball. he let his man go right past him to get the ball. with a good defender, the ball would have been rebounded by ksu.

Yeah, it was a nice make-up play, but the guy got to the rebound b/c Awaji failed to block him out. He did a great job of defending the guy on the shot with a short shot clock, but then didn't make sure his man didn't get to the offensive glass. Fortunately for him his athleticism allowed him to still make a great play.

Yep everyone boxes out a 3 point shooter, while trying not to foul.

WTF are you talking about? Just stop.

He put his hands up so not fall into him, if would done this miracle "box out" it would have been 3 FTs. Instead he was a basketball player and still made the play.

This is a decent point. I suppose there is a balance somewhere betweening making the shot tough, but still being in good position to keep the guy off the glass. But agreed that Buchi made one heck of a play getting back to block the shot.
-
am I the only one that doesn't care about Awaji's defense? like, at all.
-
I find it funny that Buchi got a dunk (he's about 6 foot 3)...and our bigs RARELY get a stuff.

I'm about there. I think Sutton's D is overrated.

see bill walker. love both so much, screw small things like...stupid D. lol.
-
He's instant offense . . . but his D is a little suspect . . . he can dunk with ease and is a good shooter . . . but his D is a little suspect . . . he's great coming off the bench as a "change of pace" player . . . but his D is a little suspect . . .
Yes, the defense argument is very

Not only is sutton's D overrated, but Sutton's offense (especially against a team like NU or basically any team that realizes he can't shoot and throws him the middle finger when he steps outside 10f) is not good. There was a series in the 2nd half where we had nice ball movement, swung it around to Sutton, who's just standing there on the wing by himself (steps inside the arc) and bricks a shot....Frank immediately subs in Awaji and within a minute damn near the exact same rotation occurs and Awaji drills a 3. Sutton just needs to get some Hoskins film and embrace who he is.
-

so should Frank.
Sutt should still shoot about 1000 3's a day this summer, though.
-
I think we really dodged a bullet in getting Buchi over that garbage basketball player (and human being) Mario Little.
Preseason Big XII Newcomer of the Year? GMAFB!

lots of really lbbiq in this thread. makes me wonder what it would be like to watch a bball game through an average ksufanner's (lbbiq'r's) eyes. something like "ooh, ball went in"... "ooh, jumped high"... "ooh, ball went in".

come on sys! awaji has had 2 average games in a row thus qualifying him as next savior of ksu basketball. remember how great fred brown was in the eyes of fanz about 3 months ago. he was going to carry ksu for the next 3 years.

no way. that's another debate though. blake young was our shooting guard. he couldn't shoot. he had 11 three's ALL of last year. buchi already has 5, and has barely played.
