and LOL at ku and mu for moving their rivalry game played in Late November to Arrowhead.
As a comparison, the Pittsburgh Steelers a notoriously "thrifty" NFL franchise had the entirety of the Heinz Field Turf replaced in time for the Pitt-WVU game (in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Sports and Events Authority), thus ensuring a good playing surface for both that football game and of course their own Steelers.
The KC Cheaps . . . a nice little stripe going down the middle of the field of fresh grass between the hash marks but the rest is a quagmire.
The Cheaps will also ensure that KC won't have the Big 12 CCG after this last go around with no dome, and a crap grass field.
Is it any wonder why the Cheaps are 10's of millions under the salary cap.
-
Lamest nick ever dude. And why are you hatin, apparently they're KSU fans. Clearly an attempt to injure as many miz and uk players as possible. I appreciated the :kstatriot: effort.
-
you assume that a feshly laid turf would be a better surface, but that may not be the case. If the sod can't take root, which it won't in this weather, it's worse that established turf.
-
I hated the TWA dome in St. Louis.
(prior to our choke)
-
Arrowhead needs field turf. I have no idea why they haven't switched yet.
-
New Turf for the Pitt-WVU game was in excellent condition.

I'm sure the ground crew would like to send along a big F YOU! I'm not a fan of natural grass either but it does keep people employed.
-
Really should have relocated the Royals downtown and moved the Chiefs to a non-crapty area with lodging and food and stuff. Turn the sports complex into hobo-town or something. Nah, instead let's polish a turd, super.
-
natural grass is the only way to play. the smell of grass, the stains on the jerseys...dirt in the face. i could care less about job employment.
the fake crap, with pieces of rubber that fly up, the sometimes shiny look...just doesnt do it for me.
-
Dax, while I agree it was pretty cheap to do that....
You're way, way off-base in comparing Heinz Field as the "gold standard"
-
(http://www.tigerboard.com/images/eatit.jpg)
Can't get that with field turf.
-

Yes, I definitely said Heinz Field was the "Gold Standard"
-
Hyperbole Dax, I forgot you were so literal.....you should have know my point. You were talking about how much better the Stillers were at replacing the turf than the Chiefs.
My point, Heinz Field is infamous for having bad turf to play on year-in and year-out due to the weather, the course of the season of games on both days, cheapness, etc. There is a reason why the longest made field goal ever at Heinz is 50 yards (and done once) IIRC.
IF there is one stadium that could use the fake stuff, it's Heinz.

Regardless . . . They replaced all the turf at Heinz Field and had outstanding playing conditions for the Pitt-WVU game, the cheaps, just did the middle of the field and left the rest as a total quagmire.
-
...the cheaps...total quagmire.
Seriously.

In this one specific example. OK. Fine.
But overall picture. Quality and Upkeep of Arrowhead Turf >>>>Heinz Field

Heinz Field gets vastly more usage than Arrowhead. The Steelers, all Pitt Home games, and the Penn. State High School playoffs. Arrowhead . . . the Cheaps, and 1-3 College Football games every year. Again, late season, Heinz Field, totally resodded excellent playing conditions for the Pitt-WVU game . . . Arrowhead . . . excellent playing conditions if the ball stayed between the hash marks.

the Cheaps
JFC you're a persistent ignoramus aren't you.

It's practically impossible to grow quality grass in this part of the country due to weather. It's much easier in Pittsburgh.

True - you guys know waaaaay more about soil. National Champs from what I hear. Banner or DVD?

QFT.
But when I lived there, you could expect your first freeze by Mid-September like clockwork.

Don't get all pissed off at me that your favorite NFL team is a complete joke . . . that's what?? $35 million under the salary cap??
Again, one NFL team resods their entire field making for an excellent playing surface despite rain and cold temperatures. Another NFL team, who begs for college games at their stadium, provides an excellent playing surface between the hashmarks.
This isn't that hard.

Widely known as the best grounds crew in the NFL. But hey, don't let facts get in the way or your retarded rants about things you watch on television. But hey, you saw it on tv right? Guess it's hard to obtain any sort of general knowledge of the world when you're hanging from uk's nuts. Tunnel vision I guess.
-
I couldn't care less about how the grounds crew for the KC Cheaps, one of the worst franchises in the NFL is regarded. Reality is reality . . . the organization that begs for college games in their stadium (and based on how their staffed does them on a budget that would make Ebenezer Scrooge cringe) provides a sub standard playing surface. I am sure the grounds crew themselves did the best they could, but they report to a cheap ass management team.

You're basing this on what? That players were slipping on a field? I guess the massive amounts of precipitation had nothing to do with it. I'm sure you can roll out their budget to prove your little theory right?
Keep rambling on, I'm sure someone will think you're important, until they reach puberty at least.
-
KC Cheaps
Dude. TERRIBLE attempt at a burn, give it up.
-
I had no idea Chefs fans were so sensitive . . . how in the world can you let such an inept, no desire to win anything organization as the KC Chefs make you so defensive and hyper sensitive??
Again, the reality was the reality. Heinz field was completely re-sodded from endzone to endzone, sideline to sideline . . . the Chefs, who beg for college games, provided a great playing track between the hashmarks.
-

That doesn't make the field any better nut swinger. Your attempt at impersonating Hank Hill is getting old. Stick to subjects you know, uk and the like.
-
you are really missing the mark by brining up the poor examples. The steeler's field was in terrible shape. Just look at how bad it got by the time the playoffs/wv&pitt/miami steelers game. I mean punts were sticking in the gorund on the first hit.

Why are you so angry?? Did you watch the Pitt-WVU game, they had great playing conditions and it was cold and rainy just like a Arrowhead for a good part of the game.
Why in the world would you allow yourself to such a "nutswinger" for an organization like the KC Chiefs?? One of the NFL's worst franchises, with seemingly no desire to really get any better.
ednksu . . . I am talking about this year, you are talking about last year.
This really isn't that hard. The Steelers were proactive in providing a total solution to a problem, the Chiefs, as per usual, put a band aid on it.
-
Why are so angry??
You use that tired ass strategy in every argument you've had in text form, ever. Like clockwork with the stalker and angry retread bull crap. You're such a &@#%ing joke and the worst part is you know it, but can't seem to stop.
There's a distinct line/trade off between blade density and root depth in determining the need for sod, I'm sure you walked on the field, made your own asessment, and have the full knowledge necessary to call out the grounds crew, who ultimately made the call, not management, in spite of your retarded comments.
JFC, give it rest for once.
Now please, continue with the stalking and angry comments.
-
LOL . . . geezus chef fan, take a Prozac.
Like I said, don't blame me you've gone all in with the 2nd most inept NFL Franchise in existence.
In so far as the field goes, the proof was right there for all to see . . . Steelers, total overhaul to improve conditions, the Chiefs . . . cheapest route possible.
-
LOL . . . geezus chef fan, take a Prozac.
What a loser. :flush:

That really wasn't the original point at all . . . but sadly the hyperdefensive resident Chefs fans come all unglued when somebody disses the 2nd worst organization in the NFL.
I'll make the point again:
Chiefs beg for College games . . . but provide a poor late season playing surface.
Chiefs go cheap, and won't pony up for a dome over Arrowhead (in fact old Lamar wanted the Taxpayers to pay for it), thus costing the Chiefs/KC future Big 12 CCG's, Final 4's and possibly even a super bowl. If the poor field conditions persist, that will just be more fuel to leave KC in the dust by the Big 12.
ku and mu opt to keep in KC, doing business with the Chiefs (and sadly KSU has climbed aboard as well) who notoriously operate non chiefs events on a shoestring budget.
-
It's like arguing with a robot. And not a cool japanese robot, a crapty chinese knock off robot. You know what it's gonna say, hell you can even call its shots:

But you can't help but push the buttons anyway. And then the dissapointment comes, and you know it's your fault, because the whole thing is really below you, even if you're opcat. The worst part is, you take the batteries out, and it keeps on going...
-
Not sure if I'm on topic or not but the Chiefs are a rather depressing organization to be a fan of. And I don't think it's any strange coincidence the Royals are the same way.

Both one world champ, remarkably similar in many ways. Reflects low expectations of Kansas sports. No real pressure.

What was that about the "last word" again??
The "last word" strategy implies simply saying something regardless of merit to have the last word. A relevant post is never a "last word" post.
I'm surprised you're still floundering in this thread, what with jayhawk fans to play with. 73 seconds for a response? Damn, nut swinger is generous.
-
LOL . . . I've tried to reclarify what I was talking about in my original post.
But sadly hyperdefensive Chefs fans continued to slobber and foam at the mouth thinking that they had to defend that worthless organization to the bitter end . . . for what reason Allah only knows.
Sorry that you just can't seem to grasp the real point Chefs and Cats.
-
I know you guys don't have a "real rivalry" in your eyes, but are you really going to dis ours because of the field we played on? Come on, that's a little weak. The cats have played regular season games there during Snyder's first reign, and don't act like they wouldn't love the $ and exposure of playing there every year so they could make money on away games every other year. To dis the grass being played on at Arrowhead seems like some jealousy of the Best team in the state, and resentment for their fall from grace and no return in the near future.

Apparently I wasn't clear enough. My impromtu intervention is falling on deaf ears, hopefully your family will step in. Until then...
...angry, stalker, last word with a random "Allah" thrown in somewhere, unhealthy hatred for uk, :blahblah:

I re-read this twice and I'm not sure how to respond... but I will say I was there for the Iowa game, the Cal game and the frozen 2000 OU game. The quality of the field was always crapty in winter and summer. As for the ku stuff you mentioned, um, whatever.
-
THE NEW ARROWHEAD IS COMING.
-
Again, the real point:
ku and mu choose to continue to spoil their "rivalry" by cowtowing to an inept organization like the Chefs for a paycheck (KSU is guilty as well). The Chefs care so little about the visiting college teams that they half ass the playing surface and cut staffing to the bone (thus you have parking debacles like the ku vs mu game experience last year and the same issues at Big 12 CCG's).
The Chefs, always striving for maximum profit with as a little output as possible (thus it shows in their on field "performance") continue to low ball everything jepordizing future Big 12 CCG's and other major events.
Cue Hyperdefensive resident Chefs fans in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .
-
I dont see the problem here...the middle of the field "between the hashes" is where the game is played. There is no reason to sod the whole field because the middle is the only part that usually receives any wear, the only reason the field looked bad was because of the weather conditions. There was nothing wrong with the decision to sod the middle.

My first "moved" thread . . . :dancin:

Good gawd, anyone with eyes (open) could see that the field conditions were completely different between the hash marks and outside them. What a cheap ass move by the chiefs, as in really, really cheap.

Point being, who gives a sh1t? Yeah, this is TOOOOOOOOOOOTALLY worth obsessing over to the point that you check the thread 1000 times in an afternoon.
