Title: Restaurant bathrooms w/ paper towels in baskets
Post by: michigancat on October 14, 2008, 12:12:26 PM
I mean, WTF?  I don't want someone's disgusting hand washing droppings on my paper towels.  Plus it looks sloppy.

Why does this seam to be most common in restaurants that think they are fancy?  GMAFB.  :flush:

Good thread.  Love the new hand blowers that basically strip the top layer of skin off and dry the hands in 1 second.  Amazing they can make something that blows that hard.  Suprisingly, crappy to mid-level places seem to have these most often.  Also So Long has them I believe.

What made me think of it was a recent trip to Olive Garden (<-long story, don't ask).

I mean, first of all, who the frack are you, Olive Garden?  You aren't fancy!  And it sucks anyway!

It's like they only took the worst part of nice restaurants because they're a poor piece of sh*t.

I prefer any hand dryer over any towels.  (more sanitary, better for environment)

But I'm pretty sure Trig invented paper towels in baskets.

I bet you got the never ending pasta bowl to try and get your money's worth.  LOL, joke's on Rusty because it's olive garden and it's impossible to get your money's worth!

Those are the worst.  You have to stand there for three, THREE, towel despenses before getting a sufficient amount of paper towel to dry your hands.  Garbage imo.  Airports have those and the lines get long behind them.

Another point:  The rag roll that gets washed and re-used in the nasty dispenser thing (LMAO, does anyone know what I'm talking about)

BS, I bet that thing gets washed once a year in lead based paint and mercury just to get the gross down to a useable level.

At some point you have to say &@#% the environment when it comes to convenience and preference of hand drying.

In NYC one time I tipped the SOB a buck every trip in and was getting pretty katpak'd so I made a lot of trips in.  The next day I felt like going back there and taking a bunch of soap and stuff to get my money's worth.

Sanitizer ftw.

I always push the prostate/gooch area to get the extra drops out (yes, I learned that here).  As a result, if sanitizer isn't readily available, a good hand washing is a must!

Touching door on the way out happens after the wash. Therefore washing hands is useless.

True. You also must wash your hands when someone else is in the restroom in order to not be socially ostracized.

You realize there is a study out that is saying using hand sanitizers and trying to stay germ free increases your chance greatly of getting  a super bug where  you will die a horrible death where you will end up crapting all over the nurses and oozing pus out of pretty much every orafice.   Some germs are necessary to help you build up immunities to more powerful germs.  I'm not saying you should pick each others noses or butts and you'll be fine, but you're less likely to suffer a much more horrible time in the hospital.

Food for though.

Here's a strategy-

To be socially accepted, you must wash right? Such a hassle. Well does anyone else go turn on the water, get like a splash on a finger or two (the flushing fingers or the prostate push fingers). That way you psychologically feel somewhat clean. You're socially accepted. No real need to dry hands. etc. It's like a win win win scenario.
