Simple solution.  Get the bar owners to jack up the prices of drinks to disproportionate prices, and then offer great discounts to students/alumni.

Keeps crapheads(rival fans and riley rats alike) out of Aggieville, and if they INSIST on being there, at least they're being forced to pay extra.

Great idea but illegal.  In KS (unless laws have changed in the last three years, I know the sunday sales law was modified so they may have been) you cannot offer discounts for certain people (the obvious one is "lady's night).  Also, you can't have happy hour.  You must price drinks the same for all people and the price must stay the same all day.  Another dumb law is that you can't sell booze for less than it costs.  This is done in a lot of college towns I've been to where you pay a $10-$20 cover and then all drinks are 25 cents or whatever.  KS has horrible liquor laws.  We tried and did skirt a lot of these when I worked in aggieville but you have to be careful because losing a liquor license is like a death sentance during the school year.  We lost ours twice for 1 week periods.

You can't charge higher prices for drinks, but you can charge a higher cover.  This was done before the 1 left the first time.  Cover was so much, unless you had a student ID, then it was cheaper.

Back in the late 90's the bar next to Rusty's next door (forgot the name) did something sort of like what Phreak suggested (was it not illegal then)? The cover for students/non-GI's would be around $5 while the cover for GI's would be around $20.

Don't group the 45 Air Force guys stationed at Riley with the rest of the Army dudes.  I used to be one, and I can't stand the Army anymore than you.  I had to go to war with them :).  Most of them (AF dudes) are good guys and try to blend in with the locals, and not do stupid shyt.  You probably didn't even know there were AF guys there....  :peek:

i'm sure you afers have slightly higher iqs than the army people (how could you not?).  that doesn't change the fact that you are parasitic lesions sucking what little life remains out of a once great nation.  renounce your pension, do something productive, and perhaps you'll be fit company for decent folk.

agreed Ultimate Fighting over College Sports in a College town is stupid. Airforce "fellas" are looked at as the "soft" guys in the Armed Services so, save the tough talk Airforce guy. Any of you other FPs who dont have the nuts to raise your hand in support of your country, but want to rag on those who are there giving their lives in support of this country in a war that they dont necessarily agree with, ought to be the first to go and buy some of those Army "scumbags" a beer in appreciation. No? Then take you college degree, go to Officer Candidate School and lead these guys into battle - if that is not asking too much. You should be ashamed of youselves.

3 people from my senior class joined the army and their reasons were:  Felony, Felony, Knocked up 16 year old.  I guarantee you none of the three knew the national anthem or the pledge of allegiance.  I think that pretty much sums it up.

In that case, good for them.  The army will make them much more productive citizens than they would have been otherwise.

Thanks Steve Dave - you are correct, the Army does one of two things - makes you grow up and see straight OR you wash out and are worse off than before.

Fatty, that is true - I have had my fill of both a-hole Soldiers and Students. I just think that the Soldiers have some dumb chip on their shoulder and that doesnt make any sense. Oh well, I still support them.

Any of you other FPs who dont have the nuts to raise your hand in support of your country, but want to rag on those who are there giving their lives in support of this country in a war that they dont necessarily agree with,
if they don't support the war in the first place, then why did they sign up. i will give that to the lifers, but most of the guys in iraq right now have enlisted since 2002 so they have no excuse. three basic options/types:
1)they don't support the war but getting college paid for, other benefits buy their consience. i don't think there are many of these guys, and if so they aren't very firm in their principles.
2)felony, dropout, kid, etc. these have no other option but to join.
3)don't pay any attention to politics, world around them in general. these are the majority of the force perhaps?

Totally agree with Kat Kid. Maes and Rockabelly are horrible. If you don't already go there than you shouldn't start going now. Please stay away from these two places, especially after home football and basketball games when I might be in town and wanting to go out. Also stay away during holidays when I also might be in town. TIA!

Yes(I'm old). They had it hanging on the ceiling for a while but Jeff had to take it down (fire department made him, I think). When they discontinued mich dark... Maes got the last keg because they sold more off it than anyone in the US. It was basically a dark beer that tasted like a light beer (lager). :cyclist:

Mae's had plenty of soldiers on Saturday.

yeah, and Rocabilly's is totally full of douchebags on Friday nights  :peek:
I would replace douchebags with haughty Guidos, but I only saw one of those.  :D

I also hate when they show the NFL playoffs on every GD television, and then they are startled to hear KSU is playing Iowa State that day.

I love Maes, but was it me or did anyone else feel like when seated at a booth, at any given time an oar was going to pop through the wall and a fat (not Mangina fat, but you get the picture) half naked guy will appear, near the wall, beating a drum, yelling, "STROKE, STROKE, STROKE!" I do love those tarantulas though!

Connection?

i'm always standoffish.

probably.  i think it is more that i don't like music/noise though.  a completely silent bar might be nice.

Sounds like you need to figure out a way to party in libraries. :users:
