I agree. They kept it in house during a tought time, it'd be stupid to do otherwise. And as for the bad record, I'm pretty sure he didn't have the caliber players he'll get at Wake that he did at Loyola and Army. If they can make it through 07, things will be alright for the Forest.

Pretty much no choice but to keep it in-house this late in the offseason

they promoted an assistant coach to HC just to keep their recruits?! god, they must be desperate. i give them one mediocre year before they return to that crap-hole that is the ACC basement.

I'd rather go with a Frank Martin than a proven loser.
Also, Beasley >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> all those Wake guys.

Maybe if Bob Huggins dies everyone will shut up about our hire. I'll do it.

^ sarcasm. you should all make sure your meters are properly calibrated.

Joking about a man's death is as bad as it gets. You should all be ashamed of yourself.

You should be ashamed of yourself for not being able to read. Unless you're < 3 years old, which would explain a lot.

I'd bet Skip Prosser share a joke or two with his old buddy Huggs if I died.

people ripping us for hiring martin were just so ridiculous.

Um.....those are names of colleges. Not high schools. Your coach is a high school coach. A banned high school coach. :nutkick:

the high school level is much more of a proving ground than any college could hope to be. martin's impeccable record in the high school ranks guarantee his future success at the D1 level. i swear that you hawks sometimes show the bbiq of a retart.
learn your role Winner.

You have got to be kidding. Does that really make sense to you?

I'm no expert, but I don't think Frank Martin's background is all that different from Bill Seff's. I think Seff might have coached at one mid-major before he went to ku. Seff was a long time high school coach, though. Just like Frank Martin was.

Wrong! "I'm no expert,"- NO KIDDING! BS coached at Oral Roberts, Tulsa, and Illinois University. He never coached HS.
If you're fishing, you're welcome.
-
WINNER...
Frank Martin was banned? Banned from what? Certainly not from coaching in Florida, as EVIDENCED by the FACT that he subsequently coached at Booker T Washington HIGH SCHOOL in FLORIDA AFTER the Miami High fiasco.
There were players that were BANNED from playing, but Martin was NOT banned nor was he named in the Miami High School sanctions.
HTH.

Michael Beasley has only played high school basketball, but he's going to be really good in college. It's exactly the same thing with Frank Martin. Exactly the same.

HTH.
What was I thinking?
A press conference has been called for Monday morning, where Kansas State will formally introduce Frank Martin as the school's new basketball coach. Much talked-about assistant Dalonte Hill, also known as Michael Beasley's best friend, is getting the title of 'Associate Head Coach.' If you look at the the press release linked above, K-State is already beginning to kiss Hill's butt; the 27-year-old is mentioned in the sub-head.
Just who is Frank Martin? Don't be fooled by the glowing press release. A little digging around the net turned up this gem: Martin got his start tearing up high school ball in Florida, winning State titles and getting ranked by USA Today. Except that he used unethical behavior to achieve success, stirring up one of the biggest scandals in Florida high school sports history.
Miami High was fined $2500 and forced to reimburse more than $5000 in expenses incurred during the FHSAA's investigation. Five players, including [Udonis] Haslem, were barred from ever playing for Miami High again. The school was required to return the 1998 state championship trophy. Head coach Frank Martin (lauded in the Herald article) was fired, along with the school's athletic director.
"This is one of the most, if not the most, blatant violations of FHSAA rules against recruiting that I have encountered in my seven years as commissioner of this association," said Ron Davis when he handed down the penalties in August 1998.
Sounds like a Bob Huggins kind of guy, doesn't he? Good luck, Kansas State. Enjoy Beasley next year, and then have fun watching him wave goodbye after one season for the NBA (where he'll probably take Hill with him, just as Tim Thomas took his 'cousin,' Jim Salmon, when he was drafted.) Then, you'll be left with a dirty coach like Frank Martin, who is going to have to bend the rules to get kids to school there. This will be a disaster. :nutkick:
-
Well, since you have apparently not mastered the use of the quote function, I'll summarize for you.
Martin was not banned from coaching in Florida.

Maybe just maybe there spending to much time LAUGHING AT YOUR NEW COACH :loly: :loly: :loly:
