Looks like some great athletes that would be good to be surrounded by. :peek:

Abana is pretty cut for being 295. I can't wait to see Mr Patterson play on Saturdays

Nope, not yet. Keep hearing he'll be on campus on July 29th or around then.

Baldwin looks almost identical to Omar Epps. maybe it's just me.

Who is # 56 in the second picture?

Well, if Halle Berry is his tutor, it will be confirmed.

It's Quintin Echols. Duh.
You're not a very good Kstate fan.

He graduated. I thought the point was to show a picture for each of this year's projected starters. That is why I asked.

Hey Hatter, I was scrolling through that and counting guys who could be impact players...I counted 10 of them!!!
When was the last time we had 10 guys you could count on?!?
:ksu:
-
When was the last time we had 10 guys you could count on?!?
1998!
-

1998!
OMG you're right!
:ksu: :ksu: :ksu:
-
1998 was the best team, but not the best defense.
-
2002 defense!!! Hard to come up with 10 "dependable" players for that D. They just played so well together and lead by TNT's and Newman. Also had the players on the line to get pressure.
Pierce
Buhl
Washington
Newman
Reese
Shull
Hickman
?
?
?
-
I was thinking '99.
Simoneau
Howard
Fatafehi
Chapman
Butler
Cooper
Leber
Beisel
Johnson
Carter
The depth didn't suck either (included Johnson above, even though he was a backup). McGraw and Newman were decent players off the bench.
-
The 2002 defense was the best D that we have ever had IMHO. 1999 had the most talent, with more than 10 dependable players, but 2002 played so well together. 2002 had 3 linebackers who were explosive together and a lock down CB, & just enough players on the line to get pressure and athletes at safety. Walker & Washington.
Simoneau
Howard
Fatafehi
Chapman
Butler
Cooper
Leber
Beisel
Johnson
Carter
WOW at the NFL talent on the 1999 D.
-
Chapman was drafted, by Cleveland. His career was short lived due to injury and a drug bust.
Carter wasn't drafted, but played in the NFL for several years.
Johnson never saw the league to my knowledge, and became a grad asst. or something.
-
the most talented secondary we had was 2000.
Cornerback
starters
Butler - drafted and still in league
Carter - not drafted but made several teams for a few years as free agent
depth
Newman - duh (lol at Tennessee in Cotton when Carter got hurt...2nd stringer even better)
Faggins - drafted and I believe still w/ Texans
Tyler - outstanding for nickel and a VERY underrated player for us
Safety
starters
McGraw - drafted and now w/ Chiefs
Cooper - drafted and now w/ Raiders
depth
Yates - very solid back up
Proctor - very solid as a back up

Legit NFL players not crossed out on my list.

I'd take Carter's NFL career.
Paychecks as well.

No, you still dont get it. The players that weren't crossed off the list were the players who actually played a role on a NFL team for atleast a good 2-3 years.
-
I remember watching the team in '02 and basically licking my chops when the opponent set up for the run. Our rush defense was AMAZING that year. Plus... T-New in the secondary :D

You crossed him off your list.

I still get pissed thinking about the all out blitz w/ Heupel calmly hitting Fagan over the middle on a screen play. Easy as hell and the OU coaches laughing their asses off. We wasted so much talent on that team in those OU games.
-
Soo what you're saying was that Dyshod actually made an impact for an NFL team?? :bs: :ustupid:
-

Still, most QB's couldn't take hits like Heupel did in those games and still stay in the pocket to just take more hits. He deserves a ton of credit, even if it was a dumb strategy after about 5 TD's.
-
that team also had a sick d-line. Johnson, Fatafehi, Beisel...(X)
-

If by being on the team and playing in games for 2-3 years counts, then yes. It's not like he had the Thomas Barnett practice squad career. He played in games across at least 3 seasons, and had a career of 5 season or more.
Now if you want to start talking about how big of an impact, go for it. But a guy that plays that long in the NFL has accomplished something. Fatafehi only lasted 3 years, and was never a starter either, and isn't exactly eligible for a NFLPA pension.
-
Fatafehi's NFL career:
92 tackles, & 2.5 sacks in 3 years & in 26 games starting.
Dyshod's NFL career:
16 tackles, 1 FF in 5 years with no career starts. Less than avg. of 4 tackles per year isn't an impact wih 0 games starting.
If you want to say that you would take Dyshod's career, than I would have to agree because it would be good $, but that's not what we're arguing.
All of the 1999 defenders that were on the 10 dependable list that are not crossed off are impact players with games started and solid stats on their NFL resume.
-
Here's my list KSU4ME of 1999 dependable defenders that had any type of NFL career at all. (Drafted or stats)
Simoneau
Howard
Fatafehi
Chapman
Butler
Cooper
Leber
Beisel
Johnson
Carter
-

fatty, if you want to cry watch the '99 Tejas game. On Allen's punt return...tears will flow from your eyes as you see the view on the replay from behind and two of his blockers trailing him w/ the #1 sign raised in the air. The two trailers? Moran and Newman. GD we had talent.

True, but think of it this way. This year we will no doubt have numerous pics of Walker,Beasley,Sutton,Hoskins in the same picture. We may not know it now, but 6 years from now three of those guys will probably be in the NBA, and a pair can be something special.
We'll look back at those pics (when we are back to regular old crap ksu basketball) and say
"Three all american's in that picture in purple."
:crybaby:
So, enjoy the ride this year.

You're right. The official Denver Broncos website lies. Mainly they lie JUST for me.

Yup.
Check the NFL official stats. Not exactly the same. I was wrong on the starts, but the tackle numbers from the NFL are quite a bit different.
I guess I just didn't understand how a starter could start 16 games and amass 22 tackles on the season.

because the NFL has very skilled OL. I"m not saying he's a pro bowler but DT's in the NFL don't make that many tackles. He was definitely a starter for at least a full year and part of another year.

Hey, if you want to go off Denver's website, last year their starting DTs had 80 and 51 total tackles respectively!

sheet, that abana is a great looking physical speciman. I just hope your not expecting to much from a guy that won't arrive till nearly august. there is a jump from juco to the big 12 and I don't know if 4 weeks is acclimation time enough.
on the other hand, your nt looks very unimpressive. He won't need many double teams

Nebraska couldn't block Junior last year "very unimpressive" looking or not. When healthy last year he was really doing some damage and coming into his own. Then he got hurt.
Moran is 6-0 300...hilarious that he is "too small" for some people when the Baltimore Ravens starting NT for 4-5 years was Kelly Gregg at 6-0 310.
Auburn's "little" 6-0 295 Josh Thompson whipped up on Nebraska.
-
junior was not the nt we had issues with. even so, yes, our 2nd string center had trouble with your #1 nt. but that guy is gone gone gone. new center for nu, all healthy. your defense is going ot suck
-

:bs: Not sure which game you were watching but Moran was eating up your interior OL along w/ Echols. And maybe he was your 2nd string center but he wound up starting the rest of the season and will start again this year. Along w/ a freshman LG beside him.
We defensed Nebraska well. Other than 3 long runs(two of which had nothing to do w/ NU's OL as one a naked boot by Taylor and the other a tremendous tackle breaking and dodging run by BJax) NU didn't do jack. The OL couldn't run block and certainly couldn't protect Taylor (4 sacks).
-
wow, all those dt's handling the nu o-line and we still managed 4.5 yards a carry. Simply amazing
also not sure what it matters if we start a frosh at left guard. I am assuming your speaking of keith williams. if you are you should knowe that as a frosh, he is better than anything on your entire team on the o-line. He is simply a amazing athlete who will do nothing but smoosh your 3-4 into the ground. The guy at #1 right now is a junior. who is also pretty good. either way, your in trouble
-

LOL. One good run came from the OL. 3 of NU's runs accounted for 112 yards...the other 40 rushes netted 78 yards.
of those 3 runs only the Lucky TD run was by the OL. On Taylor's naked boot...it was a naked boot. The other run was BJax on great individual effort. He was hit and swarmed in the backfield and got away and broke through several tackles and made a guy miss. The blocking was atrocious on the play.
And Taylor ran for his life while passing or maybe I'm just guessing since he was sacked 4 times on only 21 passing attempts (embarrassing).
Your talk about your Fresh LG is retarded. No reason to respond to that stupidity.

BMW when you all actually have a winning record over SOMEONE in the Big 12 in the last 10 yrs - please feel free to talk some smack, until then do what you do best: eat organic, hug a tree, put a peni$ in your mouth, and continue to overpay a coach that would have been run out of Manhattan years ago.
Back to the thread - isn't anyone thinking that Gary Chandler has a chance to start on D?
-
BMW please enlighten us as to why that is your name. Are you just that much of an arrogant prick that you boast about your possessions? If so that is sad.
