Round 6

Round 7

234. Dallas -- Zach Diles, ILB, Kansas State

Why is Figurs so low, what is figurs lacking that Ginn has. With Ginn a first round pick.

Yamon Figurs - An early second-day selection, possibly a late-third round pick whose value is primarily as a return specialist.

Quintin Echols - A mid-second day choice who will benefit from a shallow defensive tackle pool.

Zach Diles - A possibly last-round guy who is a natural football player, but doesn't wow with his skills.

Brandon Archer - A free agent - maybe.

Thomas Clayton - No chance at being drafted because of lack of productivity and character issues (mostly immaturity).

Figurs didn't 'break out' until his senior year, while Ginn has always been good.  Ginn is more consistant, too.

Ginn is what we'd like to call a "Receiver with wheels."

Figurs is more of a "Runner with wheels."

132. Pittsburgh (compensatory selection): Yamon Figurs, WR/RS, Kansas State

They've got him up from a 6th Rounder to a 4th Rounder

226. Carolina: Zach Diles, ILB, Kansas State

That's got him into the upper half of the 7th Round instead of the latter half of the Round.

Diles is a good emotion player...

Not a good fundamental player.

I could see denver going after yamon, last year they were trying to go after devin hester, but the bears got him a few picks before denver was going to get him.  they are looking for a return specialist. . .this really isn't bias, because I am not sure if it would be good for denver to waste a pick on a returner, when we already have k-state great Quincy Morgan (OOOOH HE WAS SOOO GOOD)

Figurs doesn't play corner. And they were going to pick him as a corner opposite of Champ and also as a returner.

Detroit hasn't had a consistent returner in a long time. And I could also see KC picking him up if he's on the board on sunday.

Yamon Figurs and Quintin Echols are expected to be drafted. Zach Diles and fellow linebacker Brandon Archer are considered free-agent types, as is running back Thomas Clayton, whose image is suffering from the dreadful distinction of possessing "character issues."

Thoughts on Figurs from Charles Davis (analyst for TBS and the NFL Network): "He's already ahead of (Chicago Bear Devin) Hester because he can play another position," he said. "The thing about Figurs is, he's a wide receiver, maybe a third or fourth, he returns kicks and he's a gunner -- he can cover on special teams.

"And, he runs a 4.3, which is like being 7 feet tall (in the NBA)."

Teams are beginning to fall for Echols as well, mostly because there isn't much quality depth along the defensive line in this draft. When motivated and not fatigued, Echols is disruptive. When he tires, though, those 328 pounds packed on his 6-foot frame are all anyone can see.

Archer, K-State's defensive MVP last season, will probably have to try to latch on with a team as a free agent.

Same for Clayton, who looks, talks and acts like an NFL running back. If only his production was comparable.

Does Brandon plan on free agenting? He's got a degree in graphic design (I think). The kid can definitely do more than just football if he wants..

Archer has an agent and will do just about anything to play in the NFL.  He'll definitely try the free agent route.  But like you said, he's really talented in graphic design.
