Can he start recruiting Texas for us right now or does he have to wait until TTech officially fires him?

Another North Texas fan put it best when he said that Pat Knight is aiming for the best recruiting class in the Sun Belt/CUSA. I'm not super high on Thomas Gipson for you guys, but at least Gipson is a national top 150 and plays a position of scarcity this year.
Gotcher, Petteway, Tolbert... If everyone coming in to the team appears to have a ceiling of "nice Big 12 role player", how is Tech ever going to even rise to mediocrity?
The only guy on Tech's incoming list that I'm remotely sad North Texas didn't land is Terran Petteway. But he's not going to be a Big 12 star.
When you take a roster full of guys who belong at the mid-major level and try to force them to coalesce into a power conference team, it isn't going to end well. I'm not saying everyone Pat Knight recruited is going to wind up playing pro ball in Columbia... But I don't see a bright future for them against their future conference schedule.
