The two men that have almost singlehandedly burnt K-State football to the ground are having lunch together today.
Who can make it to the lunch and end this once and for all?

I'll speculate that its leavitt as head coach but they want to sit on it until after signing day. The 49er stuff is a smokescreen.

In an attempt not to throw my source under the bus, I will not be specific about my source . . . but a person I know was in the football offices and said everyone seemed depressed . . . he said that coach, who is usually very upbeat and excited to see him, was very depressed and bothered. Explained that rest of the staff's morale was down, and he even mentioned that some of the coaches were working on resumes . . . he said it was very strange, and he stated that he thinks there is some kind of change coming. he didn't know what, but he said something was up. He also said that there are only 18 commits right now . . . any speculation on why coach would have been depressed? Perhaps losing Levit? Hiding retirement until after signing day? . . . ? A source, so Don’t kill the messenger

I have been told the same thing. I think the "un-fun" factor of working at Vanier is at an all-time high. I'd prefer not to speculate why, but I'll say that in my office, when the boss isn't happy, no one is happy.

This post also seems like it would qualify for the "Aggieville Creepster of the Year" thread.

LOL, remember when Bill had figured out why drove us directly into the ground the last time around…and then remember when he did the exact same things and it happened again?  Crazy times.

I like how we all got on board with Leavitt.  A few months ago, a lot of people were like "eff Leavitt, break ties to the old regime!"  Then we talk ourselves into it as the only realistic hope we have to actually improve, and we still get mumped by it.

Fantastic stuff being a KSU fan.

Unfortunately if that was true then SF would go ahead and fill out their coaching roster.  They have no interest in being a player in Leavitt's smokescreen

Somebody around here needs to be commissioned for the 2011 KSU football poster if Bill hangs on and the staff largely remains status quo.

What if Leavitt is using Gregory to get Carson to San Fran?

Ok, so it's obvious there are negotiations in play here between Leavitt, the 49er's, and K-State.

Knowing that, the question now is, how will OB f*ck this up and make us end up on the short end of the stick?

Most logical IMO:

- He refuses to relent on the CO-DC bullshit with Cosh.

- He refuses to match or exceed the 49er offer.  The average salary of an NFL position coach is in the range of 350K.  Knowing Bill, he's the low bidder, and probably by a considerable margin.

- He refuses to fire Cosh outright, apply all of that freed up salary to this contract, and offer Jim the sole DC and Assitant Head Coach title.

There's probably a litany of other ways Bill will crap the bed on this, but this seems the most apparent at this point...
Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

hmmmm. seems like leavitt has upped the charade ante even more. does ksu offer him shares in ksu stock now to try and sweeten the deal even more? 50% ownership of vanier complex? hold on... things could get interesting.
