Our power co has plenty of juice but says we’re part of some big regional multi state thing and may have to do blackouts to support you downgrades who can’t handle the cold. So thanks a lot.

Mine went out at 7:45. Still hanging in the dark. I want to go to a McDonald’s or something to work, but how far would I need to drive?

Power out again, at 8:30 on the dot.  Grumblings that it might last an hour instead of 30 minutes.

Just got to my office and the power had already been out for 30 minutes. Passed a wrecker towing a semi and trailer up the i-35 hill into downtown going like 10 feet a minute. Pretty lol start to the day

Not sure if anyone on here has one of those variable rate electricity plans, but if so, hold on to your buttholes, on CNBC they just said that a sale just went through at $87 kWh as opposed to usual $.12 kWh.

Weird, I had heard rolling blackouts were a Texas issue.  Guess we have company.

Oh interesting, was wondering why some of parts of the midwest (that actually get cold af on the reg) would have to do them.

Is the Midwest in for some pretty nasty floods when we finally start thawing out?

I've done v little research, but i don't think the snowpack has been that ridiculous this year. As long as it doesn't get extremely warm quickly, i think it will be an average year.

Not much snow in the Dakotas.

Still down and now Evergy says to expect an outage of 2 hours. I mean eff those guys theres only like 6000 people in the entire rough ridin' county, how much power can they really be saving.

Man, I wonder if people's heat systems are gonna have to run like a [redacted] to catch up after being off for 2 rough ridin' hours in sub zero temps? Great strategy.

Assuming you have a gas furnace, the fan energy isn’t going to be that much different from normal times

I'm that thankful Kentucky is in a different power network. Heat pump going hard though.

Interesting to nerd dive into the central plains energy mess. Hopefully, natural gas utilities will add some delivery capacity to the NG plants after this. My buddy's plant was only able to run at 50ish% capacity. If they went higher, they would've sucked down the city pressure and fubar'd the residential network.
