To Jacob Pullen, this Big 12 opener is K-State's "...opening act. We're going to put on a circus show. Circus shows go on the road, perform and get out of the building."

I wonder if Frank said that.

"I feel like everything's got to come through Manhattan this year," Pullen said on Thursday. "I feel like we have to play at Allen Fieldhouse and that's going to be a big game for us and we still have to go to Texas and Texas A&M -- two good games -- but we've got a lot of teams coming here, too.

"So I feel like it's our league to lose."

"A lot of us feel like people underestimate us now, or doubt us now, and think we shouldn't have been preseason ranked, or whatever the case is, and that's good," Pullen said. "That makes the team hungry and it makes a lot of guys feel like they've got something to prove."

Quote
Pullen, the preseason Big 12 Player of the Year, credits the team's ending to its non-conference schedule to hard work generated by uninterrupted practice sessions during holiday break.

"It's been phenomenal," he said. "Our practice has been to another level than before Christmas break. With the time that we have and the time we've put into this gym, it's really been a war."

After serving a three-game suspension for secondary NCAA violations, Pullen had 24 points with four 3-pointers in a 92-61 win over Savannah State on Monday.

"Every team I've played on, we've used Christmas break as a great opportunity to really just spend a lot of time in the gym," he said. "We spend a lot of time in this gym and I feel as prepared as any (previous K-State) team going into the Big 12."

And Pullen expects for it to be a battle.

"Everywhere you look in the North and in the South a lot of teams are playing really well, from A&M to Missouri to Kansas standing out," he said. "It's just going to be a dogfight this year. Even Colorado is looking good. They look like a good team. That just says for us that every night you have to come in prepared or you'll end up losing and dropping a game that you might've thought you should've had."

K-State on Saturday seeks its first win in Stillwater since 1993 and then plays two of its next four on the road.

Being a major part of K-State's climb within the league during his career, Pullen figures there's one way for the Wildcats to go this season -- to the top.

"Well, I was third my first two years and second last year," he said. "So you'd think hopefully we'd keep progressing so we could win one."

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Assuming these asinine quotes originated from a D. Scott Fritchen fluff piece?

Jesus.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

No, no they do not.  Seems like they've about got this year's team pegged: barely adequate no better than middle-of-the-pack Big XII team that probably won't make the NCAA Tourney.

To be fair, Pullen played really good (great maybe) those first 30 minutes.  Kind of what I expected him to be this season.

Then he absolutely disappeared the last 10 minutes... dribbled off foot... missed 2 FTs... missed an open 3...  just amazing; got to the point Frank sat him.

yeah, he was fantastic.  the other guards (counting mcgruder as a not-a-guard), gave him no help.  martin should have tried 95 or canada or something

Absolutely, sprads is a year away, nick is showing signs he may never get it and tay
did not step forward.  The problem is we won't be tested like this at home and Martin will do nothing to avoid the coming MLK day massacre at MU

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against players talking if they back it up.  In fact, I like a little swagger.  But coming back before this game with more talk and then going to Stillwater and not even having the game be a possession game the last several minutes is too much.  Its time to shut up and play.
